I wasn't sure about posting here as there is a designated place in the classifieds, but as I have discovered others doing the same I thought I'd give this a shot, just in case. Please let me know (or delete) if this is not allowed. I'm still a newbie here so I apologize in advance if this breaks the rules.

Anyway my 83 was stolen a few weeks ago in Southern California, 90670 Santa Fe Springs, near Whittier / Downey. Please let me know or call the cops if you see my truck or see suspected parts. The lift is uncommon, the rear bumper is unique, the wheels/tires uncommon. I'm hoping this will help and have searched the online classifieds nationwide like a maniac to no avail. I posted and shared all over social media but nothing. Where else (besides the plaques) is the VIN stamped on these trucks? I'm guessing frame only? I believe VIN stickers started with the 80 series. If she was chopped up, body panels are painted in aftermarket brown metallic paint which was carelessly sprayed (Earl Scheib) over the factory root beer (PO, not me!). There is significant rust along the roof drip rail, more so on PS than DS.

  • 2-3" Lift: Parabolic Springs from the Netherlands, really a unique piece of kit
  • Desert camo and stickers on rear bumper
  • Wheels: Mickey Thompson Classic IIIs 16x8
  • Tires: Milestar Patagonia MTs LT285/75R16 (33X11.50R16LT)
  • Non-original brown paint
  • New magnetic Toyota drain plugs in both diffs (both drain and fill) and in Trans and T-case
  • Original spare wheel (with a crappy tire) still in place
  • brick red paint on skid plates/oil pan and some of the undercarriage and suspension - some sort of old rustproofing paint probably?

I also reached out to all the cruiserheads I could find via email/instagram/facebook/twitter, including Icon/TLC4x4, cruiser corps, SOR, and a bunch of individuals.

Pix?

MY TRUCK WAS RECOVERED YESTERDAY!!! Now a different color, sadly :-/
Seems to run and drive ok though!!

Did they do a good job with the respray? I'm guessing not. Details and pix. Happy it came home,

I'd love to know the story if you have one? Stolen, resprayed, then they attempt to sell? Are 60s that popular now to where someone would bother to do that?

Sorry, I must not have notifications turned on!! They did a horrible job with the black spray paint but thankfully it comes off with goof-off which seems to leaves the rest of the paint alone. Going to grab a few gallons and some gloves soon. Without any working lock cylinders and a missing window and no license plates I can't really drive her too much yet!

The baddies were heavily using the truck. So much junk; food wrappers beer cans a million pairs of glasses. I think the paint was so it would be less noticeable/possibly not match the original description. I would never have thought thieves would steal a car paint it and use it daily but it makes perfect sense. There was loads of what was likely stolen prop. in the truck that the officers didn't want to deal with, threw out 4 trash bags full of old car radios, clothes, shoes, cologne, etc. Also they were identity thieves; found stolen mail, washed checks, and a washed social security card (no name or number) in the back, along with a scanner and printer. The cops took the mail to be shredded I would have thought the PO could just re-deliver at least what was still sealed but I guess not.
