I never took offense at anything anybody said to me. I'm fairly secure with myself. I've got no misconceptions about my skill level, nor do I resent anyone for pointing out the talents of others. I just don't really do the sensitivity thing very well. Both for dishing it out, and for taking it.
Der Hasselhoff Speedo Rommel post was meant as a joke. Maybe I should have made that more clear. What with the imagery combined with the absurd text, I don't see how much more preposterous it could have been. I mean, the idea of you lot driving around Pismo with vaguely fascist symbols painted on your doors, blasting techno, wearing speedos and leather jackets and pith helmets and screaming about Hasselhoff...well, it's pretty out there.
It wasn't a personal attack. It wasn't a dig. It wasn't because I was pissed (I wasn't) or feeling dejected (I wasn't), or because it was a heavy flow day (it wasn't). It was a joke. Was it appropriate? I dunno. I'm the guy that makes the Terry Schiavo, Christopher Reeve, and Pope John Paul II menage a trois joke at the dinner table, so maybe I'm not the best judge of what's appropriate. Maybe it's generational, or a product of permissive parenting, hell I don't know--maybe it's a lack of vitamins.
It's really more embarassing to me to realize that I've offended and made people uncomfortable, especially since it's the last thing I wanted to do. I don't want to do that any further, so I'll just bow out now and say good night.
Best of luck with the logo and the club, and stay safe on the trails and everywhere else. Most importantly, have fun.
That's not sarcasm, by the way, in case you're left wondering.
Take care.
PS--Say what you want about me, but don't sully the good name of Hasselhoff.
