IMHO - get rid of the surfer completely and concentrate on the 80 only. I don't care for the surfer there at all. SoCal roots and all, a surf board on top of the cruiser is plenty. The pic should be DOMINATED by the 80.

In my very non creative opinion of a creative genius' fine work, I agree with Brent. I think that the surf boards are plenty for me. If the picture is "dominated" by the 80 without the surfer there could be room for the rear bumper/tire carrier mentioned earlier. This picture rocks thus far and I am enjoying every tweak of it.:bounce: :bounce2:

Agree.

The surfer definitely doesnt represent me - he looks lean and fit (no extra cushion:popcorn: and beer belly  - nope doesnt look like me). :D

All right, listen up you fatties...

The original photo that the Cruiser was taken of is at an angle where the rear tyre jockey is obscured. I will have to use another photo altogether. I have one from the same photo set that might work.

I don't mind taking out the surfer altogether; however, the spirit of the original poster will probably be lost. If that's okay, then I won't mind taking it out. If you'd like to retain it, I can shrink it to make it less dominant in the pic.

Give me a couple of hours.

Toss the surfer he had a wipe out and yes I know I need to lose a few pounds. If you need any other shots of an 80 cruiser let me know I have some.

Okay...

See if you like it with the surfer in a less dominant position. The Cruiser is now front and center, with rear tyre jockey, ARB and all visible, the color of the TEQ sun is more red-orange, things appear a bit more balanced, and I think you guys were right on all counts.

How's this?

How about a 3/4 shot of the front and side and toss the surfer?

You won't get the tire carrier in the shot...the roof rack will blend with the roof line at that level of detail...I dunno...let me see what I can do.

My 8 month old kid's screaming like a stuck banshee right now, so I'll finish this up tomorrow, unless he can manage to erupt razor sharp bones out of his gums in a more quiet fashion in the next hour or so. What a whiner! "Waaaa! Waaaa! Bones are shooting out of my face! Waaaa!" Like, whatever!

I feel you. We just finished with my boy getting his first three molars breaking out at the same time. :crybaby:

I agree. I knew there was something else I just couldn't put a finger on it.

Much better. I like the 80 front and center but I have to agree with the guys and vote to loose the surfer altogether. I think sacrificing the spirit of the orginal to have a truer representation of our group is the way to go.

Tare, I am thinking that switching to a 3/4 front shot would loose the rear spare which is alot of what gives the 80 its built look. I would like to see what Shahran comes up with though.

Edit: I was just thinking, could the windows be made clear as opposed to black to let the TEQ come through there as well? Just the lines to detail the A,B,C pillars so the windows are not tinted. Drop the surfer and center the 80. I think that would be sweet.

Anyway of doing the outline of the 80 like how Woody has it on the top left corner of the Toyota Tech Resource page. Its the one if you click on it will change into the outline of the different series of the Land Cruiser.

Having the front of the vehicle in an angle and see the side of the truck will let everybody know its the 80 series.

Shah its this pro bono work? ;)

Take a look at the norcal logo. It's all cruiser.

Perhaps just a red TEQ in a corner instead of the huge Endless Summer sun to allow for both a little better?

Don't you think it looks like an 80 in the latest rendering? I must admit a 3/4 shot would show more detail in the body lines.

Good question.

Brent that is not a bad idea, but would we be encroaching on their logo? I don't know any of them so I am not sure where they stand.

Actually, I tried, and it doesn't work, because the Cruiser must be rendered down to two elements, those that are black and those that are white. Those that are white are eliminated altogether, leaving only the shadows and darkest midtones. The problem with the windows is that if you eliminate them, you have to eliminate ALL of them, while keeping a sense of three-dimensionality by keeping things like the pillars on the other side of the truck, seat backs, window trim, etc. Since I can't really see those elements to begin with, I'd have to draw them by hand realistically...I'm just not that good.

The Cruiser itself actually is centered, or at least the image's weight is centered, when you include the shadow. I can bring the Cruiser to the right, but the shadow will be out of frame. It will lend the feeling that all the elements in the picture are not present. Small detail? Maybe, but I think it's one that matters. I filled the space with the surfer because I thought it was appropriate, considering the original poster, and well, to fill that space.

FWIW, I don't mind the surfer in the "less dominant position," hmm... that sounds :flamingo: .

I like the last logo Shahram, good content and colors, and it screams SoCal. The original poster comes through well, but I think it would even without the surfer. I don't care either way if we leave him in or not. What if we replace him with an illegal alien pushing a taco cart, or selling jewelry out of a briefcase? Too much?;)

Is there enough detail to put an "IH8MUD.COM" sticker in the rear side window?

That level of work that the Nor Cal crew has in their logo is waaaaay beyond my skill level. I can manipulate photos to a certain extent, but that logo is drawn, and I can't draw to save my life.

I have a few other ideas I can explore. I'll submit them as I pop them out.

You just complemented the hell out of James (FirstToy). I believe it's his work, and YES, he is VERY talented.

He's going to give this a shot as well when time cools down a bit for him at work.

I'm rather fond of this one...you guys should stencil these onto the sides of your trucks and drive around claiming s*** in the name of "Südlich Kalifornien", blaring bad techno and wearing a combination of vintage militaria and Speedos, and saying things like "Hasselhoff ist zer cool!"

"Are your papers in order?"

Is that supposed to be funny, or is that a personal attack because things may have not gone the way you planned? I am not laughing.

Please take that last post with a gigantic grain of pure unadulterated salt. No, of course I'm not displeased with the way it's turned out (the Perfect Trail pictures, I mean). I am in no way a professional artist, nor do I claim to have anything other than the most rudimentary knowledge of photoshop. If I can't come up with anything you guys would want to use, it's cool. It's been a great learning experience, and I've had fun doing it.

In case you're not familiar with my...uh...body of work...I have a whacked sense of humor; I thought the Hasselhoff/Speedos/Bad Techno combination would water down the fact that it's (in essence) a symbol of the worst human transgression...if I had really meant to offend you guys, I would have left the swastika. Look, if it wasn't funny to you, I apologize. I guess I have gotten used to the level of crassness around Chatville, and well, if anyone's gonna whip their dick out at high tea, it's probably gonna be me. I've got a reputation to upkeep, you know...however, I'm not inhuman, and I recognize when I've left a turd in the proverbial punchbowl. If it wasn't clear before, I apologize for any and all offense that last post may have caused.

I won't, however, take it down. Those who do not learn from history are bound to s*** in the punchbowl again...

...and other cliches.

Consider one gigantic grain of pure unadulterated salt taken. I have noticed your unique sense of humor and actually laughed at some of it as well. I am a sarcastic s*** myself. I would have racked up the verbage to sarcasm but I have zero photoshop skills and to see an image attached that I imagine took a bit of work to produce, I took it as an insult. Partly because of the total content and the fact that it followed Brent's complement of James' skills. I kept my reply short and hoped to hear from you in case I mistook the post. I am glad that you did reply, and that I was wrong. I also thank you for the work that you have put in thus far. I think the TEQ in the sun was an incredible idea. I like where the logo design has gone and your input is appreciated. You are one crazy MoFo. :flipoff2:

The turd in the punchbowl is my favorite cliche.
