Hello all I am thinking of going SOA, and I was wondering how my current 33s would look underneath a SOA with 3 inch OME

That's what I figured... That means AONTHET month or two of saving! nooooooooooo!!!!

Thanks for the input

i know that feel, bro. :bang:

What are your plans for the SOA? If you are using 3" lift springs that is going to net you like 10" of lift which is probably going to make some 35" tires look small too.

Honestly not sure... I would love to keep my OME lift with SOA but that's a BIG lift, still unsure on that front

That's signing up for A LOT of lift....

Realistically a lot of extra mods too...

At that point, you've got Cut & Turn to the front axle, brake lines, high steer, shocks, driveshaft angles to figure out, 37's or bigger, so gears as well, e-brake line extension (or bracket), slider-steps, swaybar link extensions...just generally a lot of things that you would need to do to do it correctly/safely.

SOA on lift springs will be crazy tall-and not needed.

Always start with where you want to go. If you can go there already, don't do anything. Otherwise, plan accordingly,

Understand a stock spring SOA can fit 37 inch tires which is about the maximum on Land Cruiser axles anyway.

Remember too, that the SOA is just the tip of the iceburg. You'll need gearing, lockers, high steer, axle mods, brake lines, shocks, and $1500 worth of tires.

33s look a bit silly on an SOA truck. The whole reason you do an SOA is to fit bigger tires, so if you can't pony up for the tires, don't go down the SOA road.

Yes, I was playing in all the upgrades said above... My main concern was would it fit with the OME... Yea I'm not gonna go SOA with an OME... But I'm dieing for a sping over...

There are a lot of options for doing a spring over. Just do some research and you will be able to get the right amount of lift and a really nice ride.

I figured while I was doing the work I might as well upgrade to some 63" chevy springs for the rear. They are definitely something to look into.

I used to have SOA envy but now looking at them is enough for me.

My 60 will do just about anything I am comfortable doing. Don't get me wrong there have been some clincher moments, but I have yet to need SOA for anything I've run into. OME, sliders, a rear locker, and a good spotter go a long way.

I've got a PRO spotter.... Borek his leg playing soccer. But that's aside from the point. I suppose I could fine another way to work out what I want done.... Had I saved my OEM springs and didn't put all the hard work into putting my current lift on, I'd do it tomorrow! I suppose I could just do a body lift and get my 35's. I just don't wanna regret it down the road and have to do something twice.... *head explosion*

I'm sorry y'all, I probably do what to much thinking "out loud" lol there just no one real close to me to talk cruiser

different question same same line of thought...

What is a good combination for SOA with 35-37 inch tires?.... springs front and back would be the primary concern? along with spring setup on frame? All the other stuff can be figured from that point..I assume?
What pinion angle is good on the front. Assume "cut and turn" front axle.

So if you had a baseline of 35 to 37 inch tire size for SOA. What springs in the front and what in the rear? What type of mounts for the springs in the frame?

Set aside the question of lockers, steering, brakes, shocks... just focus on the springs and their setup/mounting.

If you look at my post above, I added a pic. That's 37 x 12.5 x 17 tires. The front springs are stock, with an add-a-leaf on stock mounts. The rears are Chevy 63s, on RuffStuff mounts.

You can set the front pinion angle to whatever you like, and do a cut and turn to return the caster to normal.

Check out the link in my signature... My 60 is SOA with old school OME springs... I need to get the back lowered a little still... She's tall for sure, but seems pretty stable... I'd say i got about 8" of lift...

Check out a bunch of builds that went the SOA route, then decide if it is something you want to do.

I have done a bunch of suspension work to my cruiser and have not regretted it one bit. With proper planning and setting aside the time and money necessary it is worth it. The first link in my sig has my SOA, second link has my new front suspension which I have not tried out yet.

you'll look like this.....( the blue 60 on the left) This is exactly what you will have!
Except the the hummer wheels and the 1 ton axles and the 38 inch tires

Thanks for the input guys. It really help me out I think I'm just going to go with maybe a body lift 35's for now and 4.11s. I'm just going to kick myself if I change my mind and have to redo it down the road, so I'm just going to take my time before I make any big decisions 4.11s going in for sure.
