Which Radiator that is. I was under the impression that the later ’95 thru ’97 Cruisers had the two row aluminum radiators stock, and that the older trucks had the three row brass radiators. Now I assume that the Aluminum radiators had the plastic top tank (as in photo 1), and the brass had the metal top tank (as in photo 2). Correct?

So which was stock in ’95 thru ’97? I believe the following photo is the aluminum radiator stock in the ’95 thru ’97…

And this was the brass radiator stock in the older trucks? Correct?

I ask this question because both of these photos are from ’97 Crusiers that are for sale, and I have seen both radiators in many ’96 & ’97 cruisers in my search. I wanted to confirm which was stock, and which had been replaced. Thanks…

FWIW - I replaced a 97 with a 94 OEM radiator. It was $200-$300 less and just as good. Cruiser Dan hopefully will be able to explain the differences better.

I thought an external transmission cooler was added for 1997.

All US 80 series Cruisers have external transmission coolers as well as coolers fitted to the bottom radiator tank.

As Christo has already noted, ANY metal tank radiators are aftermarket.

That metal one looks like the one I put in my 92 when the top plastic tank split at the seam. Our 97 has the plastic one.

Number one, both engine bays are WAY too clean.

The bottom all metal one looks identical to the CSF one that comes from radiator.com, radiatorexpress.com, etc. They are about $225-250.

Top one is stock if the core is 2 row an aluminum. If the core is 3 row and brass (painted black) it is a 93/94 radiator. The metal tank one is aftermarket.

Thamks for the deucation once again guys, it is much appreciated.

What do you mean by "WAY too clean"?

I think what he means by "WAY too clean", is that a "normally off-roaded vehicle's" engine compartment doesn't have that pressure washed shine!! LOL!!

if i were you i would strgonly prefer a truck with the original radiator if shopping. you have to ask yourself what happened to cause the replacement, and consider the implications for the HG if the truck overheated.
