So what LC projects is everyone working on?

I'm gearing up for summertime and was curious to hear what kinds of work and projects others have been doing. I just ordered new carpet for mine, and I want to hook the AC back up for this summer. I got my speedometer working last week, so that's a plus. Need to get the trailer wiring and rear hitch fixed, too. Maybe some trail gear rock sliders. Little things at this point.

Also, for anyone interested, I did find one place in Canada that makes a handful of body repair panels for 60 series LC's. The link to them is below. My rockers are rusty, and their replacement rockers are $70 each. I ordered a pair of them and they will arrive tomorrow, I'll let anyone interested know how they look. I was leery of them because of the cheap cost, so we shall see... I don't think I'll spring for body work this year but at least I'll have the parts on hand for later down the road.

I'd love to hear what everyone's been up to!

I haven’t done anything for my rigs in way too long and hope that I can soon when the weather breaks. I hope to have my wife’s 80 kicking for the ride with @Ocho77.

I have an early 6.0 lq4 and lots of parts waiting to go into my 40, but that’s a long process…

80 has been sitting while I work on the 4Runner

Once the 40 awakens from its winter sleep I need to figure out if the chirping sound is the alternator or water pump approaching failure
Need to find some of those rubber grommets that go around holes in the body work where wiring passes through
get speedo working
winch maintenance
rattles within doors
add expanded metal floor in roof rack
ambulance door seals

Just put a lift and tires on Jessica’s 40 “Zippy”.
“Chunk” is going on the lift to get regeared to 4.11’s and needs tons of other stuff to be truly finished so we will pick at that. The HZJ-73 needs me re time on it but nothing at the moment. Headed to Texas next week and bringing back a rust free 100 series body for my rolled 100. Not sure I’ll do the swap or just sell it tho

@dogfishlake the rear FJ60 axle sitting in my barn might have 4.11 gears. Don't quote me, but I thought it did. I've tried to get it to a good home with no luck, might be of interest to you. That's only if they're 4.11's.

I decided to put the 60 in storage for the winter so my attention has gone to the 80 which is my winter DD. Been picking away at a bunch of little PM projects. Up next are rear brakes (stuck caliper), and the front oil seals are still on the to-do list. Boxes of parts arriving on a weekly basis from all corners. Latest head scratcher - I found it was $100 cheaper to ship an entire tie rod assembly from Japan vs buy from one of the discount Toyota dealers like McGeorge. Sometimes Amayama and Partsouq really come through. Doing my part to keep the air freight guys busy.

Thanks for the offers. I have to get these regeared because they are cable locker thirds so I can’t swap out just the unit. It is also a good time for fresh bearings anyway.

I love Partsouq and Amayama.

I envy all of you doing real stuff. This spring is refresh time for my 200. All new fluids, new brakes, new filters, clay/wax, new battery, new tires, etc. It’s my tow vehicle (camper, utility, boats) and the 60k miles on it are almost all dragging something around, sometimes on roads that are really not roads at all. It’s been to 29 states and 5 provinces and the next 60k miles will likely add most of the rest of the states except Hawaii (no snorkel).

I guess the 80 hasn't been completely neglected..

Found some 16" steelies for cheap. Stripped them down and threw on some paint. Still waiting to get the rest mounted.

(this was being mocked up accounting for 1.5" wheel spacers)

I'm not doing anything. Proud of you all!!

I like your approach. Looking back at my laundry list all I did was set myself up for failure !

If you haven't seen the post over on the 80 tech forum, there's a great March parts promo going on from SE US Toyota dealers, extra 25% off whatever the dealership normally offers, and free shipping on orders over $75 with code FREESHIP.

Great for bigger/heavier items where shipping costs make partsouq and amayama cost prohibitive. I just pulled the trigger on outer rocker panels for the 80, $320 all-in shipped to my door. Easily saved $100.

Great, now you have me looking at a set of factory wheels and hub caps for the 40. I'm thinking about sneaking into Fran's purse and charging them on her L.L.Bean card. I can always plead forgiveness.
