So what did you do on your 25 this weekend???

I am scrounging F135 parts from all corners of the garage in order to revive an engine/trans combo...yesterday was engineering a fix for a broken oil dipstick tube...yes, I am still alive:p

I had one of those too, broke off clean at the block, had another one though.

Not all in one weekend:

Trying to get the 25 ready for FG. Put the roll bar and rear seat back in. Cleaning up the bows and getting ready to paint. Had the boat shop sew up the skins for the doors. Have way too much time into the doors. Also cleaned up a winch and getting it mounted on an original bumper with single roller fairlead.

I found out that my PTO winch doesnt work with an FJ25 bumper and brackets. So I installed the winch with my aftermarket FJ40 bumper and stock FJ40 brackets. Fits like it should. I repainted the bumper and brackets while I was at it. I fixed my temp gauge, the wire had broken at the sender. I painted the repro rear license plate bracket OD green. I pulled the roll bar out of #6 in preparation for Fall Gathering. It will go into ODIE a few days before FG since I'll have to pull the long jumpseats out. The kids really dig the seats.

Yah, the 40 winch doesn't fit the original bumper, you need the shorter front channel. I already had a 40 bumper so I cleaned up and resealed a 40 winch to put on.........but the PO had assembled the input shaft backwards. So rather than tear that one apart again, I dug into the next one........but only wanted to do it once so it went together as a 25..........painted green.

did just alil stuff to my 25  this past week :D

*****we secretly replaced my fj40 with an fj25....lets see if they notice ;)*****

Looking good Johnny!

Slow day today. I welded up the holes in the top of the fenders from a PO turn signal mod. Painted and looking how it should. Taking the wife and kids for a twilight cruise now.

Johnny, you back on the road after your lightning resto?? Looks good, but the cross bars go behind the roo bar. :D

I've spent three days working on bows and doors, this is harder than doing a whole body. I've got a clothes line full of parts hanging in the front yard. :hillbilly:

I had planned a spenting a little time on my early 1/4 ton trailer but a kidney stone had other ideas:frown:

:frown:Every time my weekend seems like a waste, John comes along and shows me how bad it could really be.......... :p

I topped off the steering box with 140wt. I pulled apart the rear axle of #6 and cleaned up the axle shafts hopefully to never be needed. They will be trail spares. I also pulled both drive shafts for trail spares. The rear dshaft is ready to go, the front will get cleaned up and ready for tomorrow. I pulled off the PTO from #6 as well as the parking brake stuff. I dont think I'm going to get it on ODIE for FG, but who knows.. No biggie. I painted my hi-lift OD green and put it in ODIE. I made a bracket for two 12V outlets to be hung from under the dash. I can live with two small holes to mount it. Ideally it would have been really cool to mount the outlets in the front of the tool box but I couldn't bring myself to take the hole saw to it. I need to charge my MP3 and cell phone somehow :D

Lastly I hit the dealership and ordered t-case output, PTO output and trans input seals all around. They should be in tomorrow or thursday. The list is getting smaller...

Jim, if you think of it, bring a rear wheel stud if you have one. One of the rear axles had a broken stud.

Mmmm, dont think this is supposed to come out of the pto!!

Wipers are wired up and working great. I pulled out the POS stereo that the PO cut into the dash. For now, I'll replace it with my old Pioneer until I feel the need to patch up the dash. I also installed a pair of marine speakers under the dash where the PO had attempted a similar installation. I painted them OD green so they blend well.

Save that water, we may need it at FG! :) Have you been storing that outside with a funnel (blue tarp) over it?

Pics of the stereo install!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My soft top bow clothesline. This has been a royal pain. Paint, find missed spots, paint, try to paint inside channels, sand runs, paint, find missed spots, paint...............they must have dipped this stuff originally. I just want to skin my doors! :crybaby:

Also a picture of my fix for loose door handles (worn holes in frame), wrapped a piece of sheet metal around the handle shaft, made a sleeve and welded in place. No wobbling and no washers / overtightening to get rid of wobble.

So Jim did you ever get all the holes fill in the doors? If they were such a pain you could have just shipped them back.:hhmm: I don't want them now. Green is not in the plans for any of my FJ25s. Can't wait to see pictures of the doors with the skins on. I really need to not stop buying all the non FJ25 :bang:stuff and get a top from Jim. One more thing, do your painting in the garage from now on or stop posting pictures. I don't need to see all the green in your yard. The only green we have around here is on cactus:frown:

Installed 12V outlets to charge my cell phone and MP3 player, two things that Toyota never had planned for an FJ25. Head unit is in as well as the two Pyle marine speakers that I got off Ebay for $29 shipped. I ran out of time to get power to the head unit to see how it sounds. I will be on the hunt for a 90 degree antenna also to re-use the PO's antenna mount hole on the side of the cowl.

No blue tarp on #6, I think its been in there for a while and settled out since I havent driven it. The trans will be in storage in the garage shortly.

John, believe it or not, it's dry here. Minimal rain, the trees have already started shedding leaves and shutting down, and I've lost a bunch of 5 year old pine trees this summer. :frown:

Get some WD40 in there and flush it out with some kerosene. Never thought to look in the tranny, I assumed everyone kept their 25 in a garage. :meh:
