Here's a clue, check his last post on his project 1959 FJ25 restore. Mike is that ice under that bandage? If you come out and visit to AZ all you would have to do is stick that elbow in a snow bank. Of course better get here quick chances are by next week it will be the seventies. Hope everything went well and your recovery is quick.

I wish I had a cool story to tell about a hand crank almost tearing my arm off while trying out the new hand crank brackets, but it just isnt so :D

I had bursitis and they had to go in and actually remove the bursa. I'm out of comission for 10 days.

So you're apparently not a fisherman then are you? If you were then you would have readily agreed that the handcrank story was EXACTLY what happened! The powa of the F tossed you ACROSS THE GARAGE and into the freshly painted frame...yeah, that's what happened! :D

April 1st, 2006:

1. Not a darn thing wrong with the 25 this weekend to work on. (I almost miss the good old days of going crazy with the brakes . . . . . NOT!!) So, I gave my much-neglected FJ40 some attention and put in a brand new 4-row radiator (CCOT), new hoses, clamps, thermostat, and brand new grill emblem. :)

2. Decided to hold off on thinking about buying an FJ Cruiser at this time. I like them, but the bizarre introductory prices and the lack of other incentives to buy (price negotiation, trade-in allowances, etc.) are pretty crappy right now. Maybe when the dust settles . . . .

3. Avoided being on the receiving end of any significant April Fool's pranks, but still managed to deliver a few of my own to some unsuspecting souls. ;p

4. Decided to celebarate my one year anniversary with MUD by turning "Lifer" today with this post in the FJ25 forum. :grinpimp:

5. And, I wanted to thank all my fellow 25 buddies for being supportive, a source of too many laughs, great war stories and being good friends. (No fooling, guys.) Here's to at least another year of that!!

I'm having so much fun with the two trannies and transfer cases apart I decided to dig into a third! :bounce:

Also got a big parts washer to make these easier............... after assembly realized I didn't have anything to fill it.

I had a date with the bead blaster.

Engine now has intake/exhaust manifold, carb, dizzy, fan, coil, oil filter and lines, and the body work done on the valve cover. I should be able to paint the cover tomorrow and finally get some pics up.

Blasted the air filter, some more leaf springs, tailgate hardware, maybe some other stuff too. I forget. My back hurts!

Well I dusted off the 25 and took the kids for a drive today. :D

Glad I put a patch over the hole in the firewall last year.....................bypass hose split wide open.....:frown: ......fortunately we were coming home uphill from the house........ ......just shut it off and coasted home in a cloud of steam. :o
No big deal to them.........they get a kick out of the 25 "marking it's territory"...........after a drive anyhow. :D

lol, been there, done that. Got a spare? I have one if you dont.

Yeah, I pulled it off that roll around new parts bin............also known as Krusty.

So I have an amusing story. I decided that since my face is burnt from plasma cutter UV rays (thats the amusing part), I decided to take a break from the resto and do some wrenching on my 25. I rebuilt my center link ( after priming the seat frames of the resto) and checked out all of my tie rods last night. What a difference in steering slop. This AM I took the 25 to have the tires balanced for the first time since I've owned it. It's like drivig a new truck!!! Too bad once I got it back home, it decided to pull the FJ25 curse out and now it won't idle. I must have stirred up some dirt into the carb from the lack of vibrations.

I'm hoping to get up to the Big E next week and finally get a picture of their elusive FJ25. Those that live in the North West have the same problem that I have, I've seen it in person, but never have had any credible photo proof!!!

There's a 25 at the Big E?

I'll wait for pics...................not even a 25 could get me back there anytime soon. :D

Mass State Fair Fried food, carnival rides, 4H barn, miracle toilet brush salesmen.............not sure where the 25 would fit in?

Since the weather was so nice this weekend up north (mid seventies) I figured I would check a few things on the cruisers that I promised I check for others. While checking I found two Koito headlights I didn't know I had, not on vehicles but on spare bibs I have. Also while checking tailgates I found a good reflector that was on the passinger's side by the spare tire carrier. I removed the two off the rear a while back. There wasn't one on the driver's side or holes from the screws. Never checked the passinger's side because of the it had a home made tire carrier mounted on the side. This is under a deck with a tarp on it that's why I didn't know it was there. Checked all my tire carriers trying to find one that matches the FJ25 but no luck. Any body have a spare spare (tire carrier that is)?

I also started working on modifying the PTO winch to fit with the FJ25 bumber and OEM mounting plate. This winch came on a FJ25 but the front angle iron had been changed and the bumper replaced with a early Willys wagon bumper. It looks rear angle iron can be shortened and a roller installed. For those who don't have a stock FJ25 the bumper sits in a little closer and the FJ40 winch will stick over the front of the bumper. Also this winch is painted black over white color. So the winchs should be painted to match the vehicle.

I was checking tire carriers after being schooled, John, do you need an early 25 or late 25....I'll post pics because I didn't know there was such a variety of carriers and brackets, and I have an odd one here...

John,

My memory stinks. Did I send you a twisted carrier off one of mine? And I thought I sent you a pattern for the winch roller and mount...........if I didn't I could just send you down the roller to copy. Just checking my memory.

Carrier no but you did send me the photo with measurements of the angle iron and roller.

Phil here is a picture I robbed of Proffit's 25 tire carrier. This is what I'm looking for. the parts book show others types but I never seen any.

So what did YOU do?

I adjusted my alternator brackets so the belt aligns better, greased all the points, took apart and cleaned the joint on the end of the pitman arm and painted the drag link. Got my turn signals working again. Time to chase down the t-case oil leaks and get a front bumper on her.
