lol....Had the 2 girls with me so i was not willing to take the chance to drive home cause of my high speed miss in that kind of cold.(fj62)

So i told the wife i am going to slip by the dealership and have the codes checked and most of all the fuel pressure tested.

Very nice folks got me right in the desk guy said you are looking at one hour labor :meh:ok.....whatever:)

Almost 2 hours later I ask the service manager can i go back and speak with the tech? Of course he said go on back..............so i do and the tech said "well the check engine light is off and is not throwing any codes and your fuel pressure is 45 to 50". Meanwhile i must stop to restrain myself NOT to:lol:

So i ask him...:confused:you did not jump the box as i am showing him those 2 spots........he said NOPE no need to the check engine light is not on(during all of this the guy is really friendly not upset at all over my presence) So i proceed to show him how and you should have seen he look on his face when i did............priceless a Toyota dealer tech that could not check for codes on a old cruiser..............nor properly check fuel psi. He had no clue on what i was talking about "with or without vacuum".

Meaning of this tech message......... Do not leave home without your Fuel injection tester set when you leave home even Toyota techs have forgotten how to test and work on these old rigs.....BE PREPARED...this garage did not even have a book on these rigs anymore:frown:

I'm not surprised one bit. I'm at the end of my rope with my 62 running rich, and after I replace the o2 sensors, if it's still doing it, I'll be going to the dealer with my FSM in hand to loan to the 'tech'. I have absolutely no faith in dealer services untill proven.

So did the guy end up fixing or diagnosing your issue?

I told him what was wrong......45 to 50 psi is a little high...maybe but the fuel pressure has nothing to do with the code 24 .and that is intake air temp sensor(air flow meter).

Have you checked your coolant temp sensor and your cold start injector? Has anyone ever opened up your AFM and messed with the gate spring setting?

Update....lol Yesterday i fixed the switch on the thermostat housing....just the wire and i checked for codes again a few minutes ago and the 24 is gone.

Also all this started after i got gas so i pulled the plugs and yep all 6 are fawked so a filter/plugs change and she purrs like a kitten.

I had my '60 at a dealer soon after I bought it (3 yrs ago) to give it a look see. After about 30 minutes, the "mechanic" came out and asked how I got the vehicle there? I said, "duh drove it." He said that he couldn't get it started. I walked back to the parking lot with him, jumped in, pulled the choke, and she fired right up? He was baffled that a 22 year old vehicle had a manual choke. At that point, I thanked him for his time and left. Since then, I've done all work on my own...sort of.

I droppd my 60 off at the local Toyota dealer and asked him to check the brakes and replace the front king pins. 10 days later I have to go back to find out what's going on and they give me the car back with nothing done. They basically refused to do the King Pin job. Why they didn't call me and just tell me to pick the car up a I don't know.

mine wouldnt be as fun as yours but she can be finikey sometimes and would love to hear what they had to say.... may have to do it just to say i did...

ive gone up to the toyota house before and had them ask me what my truck was. I usually point to the front window that says "LONE STAR LAND CRUISERS" and tell em to look at the last 2 words as i keep walking...

way back when i was wasting time and stroled into the toyota dealer and was asking some questions about turbos. it was like i was talking greek to him.:hhmm: all he said was that was not an opction in north america. so i said "is your computer not linked to a toyota network for information?" ass said no thats not an opction. so i said "well your F-ing useless eh" then "why don't people take some F-ing pring in there job?, lear a little more then what the book says."

it just pisses me off,...:bang::bang:

very funny

:lol::lol: i should try this sometime, there is a toyota dealer across the street from where i work.i wonder what would they say?i work at a CJD dealer who also owns the same toy dealer. john:idea:

the dealership here in seattle is awesome. the service advisor i work with is stellar and the tech who works on my rig knows what he's doing and actually enjoys working on my 20 year old truck. they don't hassle me when i buy parts from cdan and bring them in to install and they charge me a fair price for labor. as for the sales department, they have never tried to put me in a different vehicle. they are too busy admiring my truck :D
