Wow! very nice Grass Hopper !

The only thing that kept me from getting one was the lack of side impact curtain bags for the kids - if thy had those I would be all over them.

The perfect family vehicle.

Not the most ideal family vehicle. Depends what your after. a 105 would be a pretty sweet truck if you were after something like an 80 series with more airbags and such. I wanted something rugged with less gizmos to go wrong comparing to an 80 series. I will probably have this rig when the time comes to have kids.
I am hoping that the transfer makes it in first thing tomorrow.

it is amazing that any of you young bucks were even born :hmm: considering most of your fathers and mothers grew up in cars without even seat belts...

Not to mention the thousands of miles my brother and I spent setting on the wheel well in the back of pickup, the water hoses we drank out of with lead fittings ( lets not forget the lead paint on our bedroom window seals). Its a miracle I am alive today.:)

but, old boy, all that lead did do something to you ... you did own an LJ for a bit. (same here, i actually owned a few)

So if they had "bottled water" back in the old days I would never had bought a LJ.....interesting premise!:)

He's never going to live down buying an LJ ahahahaha.
I myself don't want to go back to a mall wagon for a long time.

why can't someone other than simex and interco make something in a 35 x 10.5?

Oh hell ya, drove for years in the very back of my dads bronco and loved it, mom and dad smoked in the car all day long too with the windows up - and I used to crack the 24 of red cap and hand my dad a pint while he'd take a shot of CC at the same time (no joke).

But, times change and as a firefighter on a rescue pump I've seen what mass, speed and gravity coming to a stop instantly can do to a human body, adults are one thing - children are another, my kids get side impact airbags thanks.

That's why I own an LX470 now and love it, load the whole family into it, the stereo rocks, set the ride control so it rides like my dads old lincoln, pull the trailer with sleds on it, cab loaded and full of guys, fricking luv my 470, love it. But will always drive a 70 series, I can draw a line between the two.

if i had young kids i 'might' think differently
but then mine grew up riding around in various 40 series or the old 69 nova.
the boy's first car was a FJ40
the girl drove to high school in a BJ42.

in all seriousness, we shouldn't judge one another as to how much protection the parent feels is acceptable for their kids.

to me, fear mongering by the insurance companies and auto makers doesn't cut it since there is always the ill equiped cement truck, run away bus, drunken transport driver that could over rule the 11 airbag equiped chebby car.
thankfully it isn't up to me any longer, the kids are in their 30s and have kids of their own to look out for.

nice ride there FB.

I was being somewhat hypocritical ...I drive a 70 Series...my wife and children drive late model vehicles with multiple airbags. Having said that my son's first vehicle was a 1971 Series lll Land Rover which fortunately had a top speed of 65 mph. (down hill)

Wayne, what's an SLA tire - what company? I'd like to get some 35's if they have them.

This is really one sweet ride you have bought! Hopefully you will go for a black paint scheme for the wheels??

congrats on the rig! guess ur dad didn't sell his BJ yet, eh? hey, i'm looking at getting an auction vehicle too, i'm in BC also... could you tell me which auction you used (i know of a cvouple however your ride is sweeeet!) thx...
