So I decided to import my own: Round Two (3 Viewers)

I was going to ask if it was in yet. That video made it look nicer than I expected. Unreal. Pretty soon I'll be in a 77 too and then I might just have to do the drive up just to see yours.

Thats very nice truck! I love the 77's, was going to convert a 78 but just buying the 77 is the way to go.

Enjoy!

agree, if you can afford the premium then a tun key HZJ77 is the way to go.
doing the conversion is fun but you end up with a bastard child and a s*** load of electrics that are no longer required.
and
by the time you find a dead 78, a donor front clip and a donor engine and if you have to pay someone to do the install you will be at the same price. if you do the install yourself you might save a few bucks.
the coils suspension is nice, they share the same front diff, they share the same t/case but the rear diff is small and you are restricted to 4.88s. if you are running big tires no problem but if you are running 32s or smaller than those gears are ... a waste.

Looks sweet. You've joined an exclusive crowd. Wonder how many are in Canada.

I've also wondered the same thing. I need to get it privately appraised soon after I have it road worthy. Problem is I don't think anyone in town does that. I am assuming you must drop it off for someone to look at it.

For those of us who are not Toyota history buffs please explain one thing to me. Was the LJ78 produced at the same time as your HZJ77
or had it been discontinued by 1996 or was it just a matter of one being sold in a particular market and the other not? ( before you get angry I am in no way comparing the two Cruisers:))

I'd appreciate pics as I'm scheming up some other things I want to fab up.

the 77 and the 78 series run the same duration.
one is for the poor people
one is for the rich

Thanks Deny. I have that mod on Orange.

....Is that really what it says in the Toyota brochure or are you simply making that up?:) As if I could feel worse about having once owned a LJ78.

paraphrased translation ...

At least now I know what that Japanese jibberish said on the glove box
of my LJ78. "something, something, you are poor, something, something.:)

Bute truck, many happy miles with it.

coil suspension would be nice like a prado and an 81 but I am hoping this will be alright.
I was told it rides firm. But this is coming from sports car and 81 guy. 77s don't do a thing for Mark.

Wasn't the 78 Prado 1990-1995 then in 96 the 90 series over took the 78
While the 77 smashed on from 1990-1999
Or have I missed something

that is one NICE NICE ride. congrats.

< just too purdy for my useage. >

Your units have been pretty top notch from what I have seen Wayne.
They all start nice and it usually goes downhill from there. Some more so than others.

my bad, you are indeed correct.

Yay Carter. Nice looking ride and now I've got the itch to go get one.
