So I contacted TRS about a REAL group buy for projectors, lets get it going! (1 Viewer)

I am stock so I need everything unless it gets crazy expensive. What am I looking at?

I have a friend in my club that is totally into HIDs....he said there was no reason to do it without the projectors.

I want them. Let me know the total so I can give you a positive.

$270 for the complete kit(projectors and HIDs, shrouds and alla that good stuff)

sending you a pm!

I have the same setup as PetroTK40...55WHIDs, ballasts, etc. So i'll need what you guys are getting (same setup, around $140).

I think ever since 2000UZJ did that huge HID thread, we will all be getting only the projectors! HAHAH I will add you to the list!

Just to be clear - what does the installation entail on a LC 100? I saw the link about installation on an LX and cutting into the housing - is that similar to the LC?

It will require cutting because they are retrofit procedures! Should not be too bad since we have room to work with since we are getting the morimoto minis!

Yes you should MR. HID!

Ummmmm $270 for the complete setup! Look at the links in the OP! And $145 for projectors and h1 bulbs! $270 is for those without an HID kit!

Assuming I get the balls to hack up my OEM headlights I am down for a set...

Put me down for a complete set of 55W. What is the difference in all of the colors? Anyone know which one looks the most like a natural white and not blue? And you don't need anything separate for the hi beams?

Crap Leo... haha, put me down on the list, awaiting confidence too, however.
I'd like the same setup as Bamabrock is goin with. Thanks for hookin it up Leo

Hahah I have nothing to do with this! We are all helping each other here! We all buy, so we all get a group discount:D

I have 6k 55w in my truck and they are white! Not sure but I will call tomorrow and ask! Nothing separate for the hi beam, the projectors come with a mechanism that activates with the hi beam switch if spliced into the oem hi beam wiring. So you will have 4 bulbs working in hi beam(2 oem and the 2 which are activated by the projector housings)

LJ, regarding the mini gattling gun shrouds, TRS has a few different gattling gun shrouds available. The one that's included in this kit is the 'standard' gattling shroud which I think has integrated lighting vents. Do you know if light from the projectors could leak out of these vents, thereby causing light to bounce off the surrounding reflector?

AFAIK you need to add the lighting behind it, but I will check to make sure!

Worst case scenario is you buy the 55w bulbs from DDM;)

I think the adapter(+$5 in the website) that is an option for the morimoto minis is to allow us to use the 9006 bulbs in our new projectors!

New Product: 9006, 9007, H13 adapter plates for MH1

Wait. Is the adapter to allow the use of a 9006 bulb in the morimoto mini projector that is made for a H1 bulb? If that is the case, then I don't need the h1 bulbs. I only need the projectors and shrouds. I already have a DDM 35w 9006 bulbs/ballasts installed in the stock housing. For some reason, I thought the adapter was to allow the projector to be installed in a 9006 housing. :whoops:

edit: nevermind. i found the answer, I think. They are for aligning the projectors in the housing, so I will still need a H1 bulb for the projector itself. Easy enough.

Added!

We need a new thread name! Something along the lines of BIG projector thread or something similar haha I see a lot of retrofits for the 100 series soon!

Well, I think I'm in. I saw Louds truck last week and really liked the look of the lights. I'm not very electrical/lighting savvy at all and am pretty nervous about attempting this. I don't want to get into things only to find that I've irreversibly messed up a housing by cutting it wrong. I'm going to need some hand holding through the install and lots of pics.

What will this do/not do to my DRLs. I saw Hoser make a comment on his thread about it.

Put me down tentatively for a bone stock 2005 series full kit. As far as color goes, the whiter the better. Probably the 4300K or 5K. This chart makes 6K look the whitest.

It should not do anything to the DRL's but for my case, I will be with the bimmer style CCFL rings! so I need my DRL wiring for the angel eyes! The Hi beam wires need to be tapped to the wiring on the projecotrs hi beam solenoid so essentially, when you turn on your hi beam, you will have the oem 9005 hi beam and the new projector working in hi beam mode as well! I will contact TRS about a color chart or an actual photo comparison about the temp on lighting:steer:

We are all doing this retrofit at the same time, so don't worry, there will be ALOT of writeups! I will do one for sure!

Edit: beat me to the chart haha

Based on the chart and your earlier comment I would probably go with the 6K. Would like to see a comparison of the three they offer though. The angel eyes might be a cool addition and I'd be interested.

Should we all be using 35W? I see a 50W ballast option.

Whats different about the XB35 bulbs that are $30 more?

Hmmmm good question on the xb35! I looked on the hid forum and there arent many people using those so I will ask about that too!

I personally think that the 50w ballast is better! I have had both 35 and 55w HIDs and I like the 55w better! Puts out more luminous light:D

I'm in... for something for my '06 LC. Need to do some searching and get smart on what to buy... any chance you can point me to a remedial get-smart thread?

I was going to do the drop in bulb & ballast but this might be a better idea. Tagging this thread.

Will do! I am guessing that you would need the full kit! Morimoto mini should fit in the 06 housing! One of the smallest projectors out there!
