I've lived here 19 years now, and always wanted to go out and see snow the saguaros. On the rare occasions it happens, I've either been out of town or otherwise committed. Looks like Thursday AM might be a good time (if I can wake up). Any good suggestions on where to go? Anyone else up for an early new year's day slogging through the mud? Looking for interesting backgrounds for a few pictures, or failing that, just a road high enough to have snow, low enough to have saguaros, and not be shut down by the sheriff or FS...

Beginning road to Humboldt lookout immediately into the cloud with little to no visibility so no more pictures

Are there saguaros up on 4 peaks.?

I would drive up to Carefree - I took some nice snow shots up there when I lived in Scottsdale

Do you need a State Trust Land permit for up that way, or is it all Tonto NF?

No State Trust
Nothing needed for Tonto unless you plan on camping in a designated area. You do not need a Tonto pass to stop for breaks, take pictures, stretch your legs, and use the Tonto NF bathrooms.

I just talked to someone working at Pima and Dynamite Rd and he said right now it is snowing...

About 10" on the ground so far here in Flag. Not many saguaros around though.

wish and you shall receive!
