i have one of the 2 biggest Warns, the red ones, mine is the 24K one, that thing is huge.
Lessons learned:
- they are very expensive
- the rating stamped on the block does not match the Warn ads. They are counting on the built-in safety margin to reach their stated specs. Upon check with Warn they stated that they engineers are confident it will hold at the stated pull. Hmmm....
- It is made in China. You can find the same looking one online for less.
- Warn customer service is outstanding. They treated me very well. Good guys.
- My impression is that most dealers (and manufs) play games with the numbers. They will state, say, 20000 lbs for a flimsy block, which makes it seem like it is to be used for 20,000 pulls, whereas in reality the 20,000 rating may be the catastrophic failure limit....
