Sliders on, now it's time to do off road testing...I think the dimple die on the front half is unnecessary but looks good enough?

MT or Slee?

Sliders are next on my list and the two I'm really considering now are Slee's step slider or the MT slider. What I'm really looking for, similar to the OP, is a strong, lower profile, high clearance step, with no angle and the ability to protect the quarter panels.
Originally I wasn't considering Slee's step slider, because I just don't really like the look. I love the look of the MT sliders. Here are the pros/cons as I see them with a little help from Cristo Slee:

Metal Tech Sliders

  • Pros

  1. Lower profile design - don't stick out as much as Slee steps
  2. 2nd stage kick-out for rear quarter panel protection
  3. Look awesome!

  • Cons

  1. No body/door protection due to lower profile
  2. Expensive with shipping: ~$970 to Denver!
  3. Not a true step design
  4. Open areas for feets to get stuck
Slee Step Sliders

  • Pros

  1. Truly functional Step design
  2. No open areas for feets to get stuck
  3. Body/door/quarter panel protection
  4. Non-slip powder coating finish

  • Cons

  1. Expensive! $945 sans shipping!
  2. Don't look as good as the MT sliders

It looks like my decision is made, except I still like the way the MT sliders look way better. If Slee could match the MT price sans shipping ($800) there would be no question I would buy the Slee Steps.

Hope that helps. It didn't help me at all :bang:

How much is the dimple die insert on the OPOR sliders? They look like another great option.

Thanks for all the great input. As many mentioned, it came down to either the metal tech or slee, with the white knuckle running a close 3rd. OPOR was nice, but thought it had too much of an angle up to functionally also serve as a step.

Ended up going with the metal tech slider and ordered them today. It was a tough choice, with the deciding factor being mainly cost. Saving a few hundred here, and still getting a very good set of sliders, will help with the other purchases.

LT was very helpful and offered good suggestions for installation.

Thanks again!

These just showed up for me yesterday. :)

Good call. I think both metal tech and slee make some great products and you'd be happy with either one.

It would be cool to actually compare the angle on all 3 models....I just check my OPOR sliders angle and it is 14 degrees, not that bad.

0 on metal tech.

Very nice. I really like them but I couldn't pass on the great deal MT gave me on the OPOR's. I paid $450 + powder coating + dimple plating.

The angle on the OPORs is minimal.

My wife & kid have no problems. Especially with the dimple plate - the angle isn't really noticeable. My truck had the first dimple/plate kit from OPOR. Couldn't be happier with the work guys did at MetalTech. My only beef with the design is still with the third (middle) support arm, unnecessary in my opinion and forces you to mount the sliders lower to avoid body rub. The OPORs are really burly though, much better than sliders I've had on my last few trucks.
