Have a stock 06 100 series with 275/70/18 ARs. Thinking about installing slider for the 100s in the Hills run this August. Need something that provides protection but also doubles as step in place of the factory running boards. If you have sliders and either really like or dislike something about them, can you please post? Originally was thinking about going with Metal Tech but would like some input from others before making that investment.

Thanks!

Hey Boomer,,,I just got the Metal Tech Sliders in,,,installing tomorrow...I'll send pics...as of now they look pretty sweet, very nice quality...welds are a little rough, but that's just me being picky?.

I just purchased the same sliders and I'm waiting for them to show up. For the price, the welds better not be "rough".

I have Metal Tech sliders and think they are great. Don't see any rough welds on my 2. Easy to install- did it alone in 30 minutes with a floor jack. Added some grip tape where :princess: uses it to step up( she' only 5'1) and they work and look great. Have yet to touch them on anything but am really happy with the look and quality.

My OPOR sliders work and look great. I'd imagine the more expensive Metaltech to be even better. For what you want them, I'd say go OPOR.

I also have MT sliders and can attest to their ability to take a hit.. Slee steps would be the others I would consider.

Seems like the OPOR sliders are a nice low cost option though.

I'm super happy with the price, performance, and build quality of my White Knuckle Off-road sliders.

The high angle kick is very helpful when working on the roof and they will definitly take a hit and support the whole vehicle weight on a jack. The only down side is that I do warn back seat passengers to be careful not to slip a foot through the kick out when entering or exiting the vehicle, don't want any knees folding up out on the trail. That said, no knees have been harmed.

They get the job done and I would buy them again if I had need.

I second this. My wkor sliders have been great. The angles allow them to double as steps, and most importantly, they LOOK good :)

I have a metal tech sliders with the same year and exact same tire size is your LC

What I like about the sliders;
Incredible design, they are a boxed framed design.
Extremely heavy duty, even for the AHC suspension with only two legs.
Powder coating is right on, 60% gloss.
Doubles as a step, More so than other sliders.

What I don't like about the sliders;
The step out at the rear of the slider makes for an overall very wide stance. Although it's helpful to kick out the rear and save the quarter panel in off-road situations, it adds 2 inches to each side and makes for a wide stance And narrow trails extremely difficult.
I added a plate for the rear open area as my four-year-old daughter fell into the opening twice. It makes for a dangerous situation if you have youngsters.

Overall I would rate it two thumbs up.

Thanks 1meancruiser. The wide kick out in the rear concerned me for the exact reason you mentioned. My kiddos are a little older, but nonetheless do not want busted shins to deal with. Can you share how you installed the plates? Photos would be helpful if you don't mind.

Just curious. I noticed the mileage on your cruiser in your signature line. I was trying to buy one with low miles like that from Foust Leasing in Ks. Did you by chance buy your Land Cruiser from them?

If you're looking for a true step, the Slee step sliders cannot be beat. With that being said, I've never had any problems with my youngest kids (now 6 and 4) falling through the gaps on the MT's.

My daughter's foot slipped through the Gap once, and she started falling backwards but I managed to catch her. The second episode prompted me to install these. Not a criticism of MT's. Great sliders overall. Any slider with a kick out with have this problem.

The weight is supported by the plate itself, the tabs I welded on from underneath act to hold the plate in place. The weld is not such a great job as it was one of my first welds. Topped off with some bedliner spray.

I forgot to mention, you should just ask metal tech to install the steps for you. It's just an additional plate and I'm sure it'll be a nominal charge...

Here's a couple of pics of my OPOR sliders with the optional dimple die pressed step plates.

I bought my LC from local owner, private party in Chino California. I just lucked out with finding one with about 18,000 miles. That is really old news as I've racked up about 20,000 miles in the past 15 months.
