by the way, the seats are boxes for stuff, too ;)

umm.... nice!

me and my wife ad many trips sleeping in a 88 4runner now i have hzj73 and i wanted to figure out a way to sleep in it got the anwser now nice set up

Woah! That is an awesome setup! I want to do something like that for my 100 series! I just dont have the time:doh:

Heres my setup in my shorty. Its very snug inside with two people but ideal to get out of the cold during winter camping trips. If its summer i usually just throw the mattrice out of the car and sleep under the stars. I am 6 foot tall but if i sleep the opposite way around (head at the rear) i can let my feet dangle around the front seats.

I can imagine a middy being way more comfortable with a similar setup.

The front end is propped up by using the drawer side covers resting on the seats.

And when not in use the mattrice folds down between the drawers and the seats.

some good ideas in this thread...
sadly at 6'4" the shorter wheel base will never be a reality 'camping inside' truck for me.
but
I can apply the ideas to my 78, thanks.

True, its not the ideal setup for anybody in a shorty. Probably would have to be about 5' nothing to sleep in one comfortably. But it sure does beat putting up a tent and I usually have a skinfull  while camping so you hardly even notice the lack of space when you eventually go to bed :)

I have a friend who has the same setup in a troopy and he can fit in a full size length bed without putting the front seats down. And the higher roof gives you just that little bit more head room. He has had four people sleep in the back on one of those last minute forgot to pack a tent camping trips.

i hope it was him and 3 Sheilas ...

Drivers seat was modified by removing a pin to allow it to go forward another 4cm , I will further modify it more by drilling out the front stop on the seat rail , that will allow another 4-5cm.

Do you or anyone happen to have more details on this? I would like to do this to the passenger side. If the pass seat can slide all the way forward so the seat back is against the dash then i will have enough space to sleep comfortably in my new 74.

Thanks!
