So we are getting the roof replaced on our shop, 40x80 and it has 3 skylight panels that were put on at some point. The whole building is metal.

Part of me hates skylights that will at some point leak.
Part of me knows there isn't a bunch of light in that main part, and that I probably won't install a bunch of lights so the skylights would help.

mud wisdom?

Might be too late but when I built my shop I had the top four feet of wall done with translucent fiberglass panels. They are used a lot on indoor horse arenas for natural light but they don't give you shadows that will spook the horses. I have them on the south and west sides and get a ton of morning and afternoon light. Best of all, no holes in my standing seem roof!

I think you guys are talking me into having them, they were "green" then someone painted over them somewhat so it's kind of at the moment, all downsides and none of the good. Roof replacing because of hail, so that seemed like a good time to revisit.
