Hey Mudders,

Am I missing a skid plate?

Best options for replacement?

Thanks!

Not NEEDED, but good to have. I just lifted mine and had issues putting the skid plate back on. Went wheeling, carefully, and got a lot of splashing in the engine bay. Skid plate would have prevented some of it.

So am I hearing from a few of you that I am missing one?

I don’t think you’re missing anything. Can you take a pic of the full underside at an angle to show front to middle?

Removed mine for lift kit. Have been lazy and have not put back on. Is it needed?
Some report upwards of 1-2 MPG increase when installed.

Yes sir. Skid plates help with mileage.

Makes sense. The amount of wake turbulence (drag) created under a vehicle is staggering. We had a hybrid car years ago that had underbody panels that covered almost everything. Drag coefficient was .25 compared to most passenger cars (which have exposed underbody) in excess of .35. With our lifted rigs and countless areas that could induce drag, I would imagine that skids would reduce that drag and increase mileage by a good margin. 1-2mpg increase is basically an 8-12% improvement for me. That's NOT insignificant. Now, I just need to save some $$$ for those damn sexy Dissent skids :)

Brb, opening up Excel to run an ROI calculation on a set of skid plates...
