Anyone out there try to squeeze a six cylinder cummins in a fj45 or 40? If so what transmission and transfer case did you use? Did you stay with the stock axles? And what mods did you have to make to the engine compartment to make everything fit? Thanks in Advance.

saw a 45 with a cummins at cruiser daze in vancouver b.c. last summer. don't know anything about it except it is an awesome brute. someone on the coastal cruisers clubhouse page would probably know.

Pics of said 45 with Cummins, love the colour as well.

that is a lot of weight there.....did you go much stronger on front suspension...my dodge 2500 4x4 also wants to plow front end with all that weight from Cummins sitting up front .....but I bet it is a brute in a little light FJ... :D

WOA back up gents not my truck, i just snaped a few pics at Cruiser Days last year.
If i recall there wasn't a huge amount of clearance between pan and diff but i don't think it was built for heavy wheeling.
As far as suspension goes aren't some of the 45s rated at 1 ton?

So with the fj45 rated at one ton and the option of installing a 6 cylinder cummins---you could make one amazing tow rig and use it for some fun off the road! I am definitely going to look more into how to squeeze a six in the fj45.

that's my 45. Thanks for posting the picture. I had all of the work done by Cory at Kodiak Custom Vehicles in Maple Ridge. I have been driving it for three summers, with zero problems. I believe that it was Cory's first cummins powered 45. I get really good mileage (not that I worry too much) at about 10-15l/100km. There is not an issue with pan/axle clearance. The main issue was front drive shaft/oil pan clearance which was resolved. I love the truck and curse the winter for making me put it away. I don't do any "heavy wheeling" as someone suggested. Too much money invested!
Cory is a TLCA member business (one man show) and is the best around. I have had him work on two of my cruisers over the past 7 years.

Did you have the pan customized or just add more lift? I'm having the same issue in my Fj60 with a 6BT
