I was siphoning gas and now have a 1/4" clear hose stuck in my tank. There are a few inches of hose sticking out of the filler hose but pulling and twisting won't break it free.
  • Any idea where it might be binding up?
  • If i can't break it free should I just cut the hose off and push it in the tank or pull the filler neck and remove the hose? I don't imagine the hose will dissolve in gas, but not sure
thanks!

There is a metal flapper just inside the metal tank just beyond the rubber fill hose connection. My guess is the hose is hung on this flapper. Two options come to mind - drain the gas, pull back the rubber fill hose and and push in the flapper to release the hose. Another option is push another hose down the gas fill port and push the flapper in that way. I wouldn’t leave leave the hose inside your tank.

Augh, that’s a bummer. I’d probably just pull the big filler hose underneath the dirt shield that connects the filler neck to the tank and push the hose up and out that way. Would also be a good excuse to replace the neck gaskets into the quarter panel while you’re there.

As stated above drain tank there is a drain in the bottom. And the hose is stuck on the flapper it is just inside the tank i wouldn't force it

Is the flapper in 90461-12894 (upper right box) and is it accessible from the quarter panel area?

Thanks again for the help!

I think that part # is a nut on the fuel evaporator separator. The flap is just beyond the fill port/barb on the tank.

Side question, has your gas tank recall been done?

In all the years I can't recall reading about stuck siphoning hose. It makes sense how it could happen so something to keep in mind when removing old fuel. Keep us posted on the fix.

You don't have to do it that way there is a drain plug on the bottom of the tank

FJACS for the win - got a 3' length of larger diameter hose, pushed it down to open the flap and the smaller hose pulled right out. 5 sec fix.

Thanks all for the ideas - love this forum!
