The PS front upper signal bulb on my 80 is toast and I can't figure out how to get at it. Any suggestions?

You mean the corner light just outboard of the headlights? On my LX that one does not blink, it only comes on with parking lights, in the front only the one below the headlights blinks
if that is the one you are talking about remove the most outboard screw under the hood and then firmly pull the corner marker straight foreword it will pop out of its retaining clip
