I putting new doors on the cruiser, and they don't have the mounts for the mirrors. Not a big deal, I can just buy the CCOT (and others) telescoping mirrors that go off the window hinge.

Then I noticed Degnol mirrors that come off the door hinge, and I've noticed a few other styles with bent arms that also come off the door hinge, or that look like they are screwed to the body below the windshield hinge.

So How many options are there? And any suggestions??

bump, good question, I need mirrors too!

I would also like to know how much one style mirror shakes compared to another.

The OEM door mirrors I have don't shake.

I have the windshield mount mirrors because I don't have hard doors. However, since I put a full cage in, I can't see worth a damn out of the passenger side mirror, I am also looking for options.

OK - It looks like I've found a man-a-fre solution too:

From the site:
these outside rear view mirrors were originally designed with Safari Doors in mind. Mirrors mount to built in fittings in all Safari Doors from Man-A-Fre, and provide an easy, and inexpensive solution as to where to mount mirrors when not using factory doors. A side benefit to these mirrors is that Man-A-Fre also offers mounting brackets to attach these mirrors directly to your windshield hinge when using factory doors, soft top doors, or soft half doors. Mirror is rectangular, and measures 5-3/4 inches X 7-3/4 inches . Mirrors sold individually, and are available in gloss black powder coat, or polished stainless steel. Mirror windshield hinge brackets are sold in pairs, and are painted black.

Aren't those more $$ than OEM?

Just talked to my paint and body dude. He said it would be no problem mounting my old mirrors to the doors. They are OEM, and are great. So I might just do that.

So we're picking it up tomorrow afternoon, right? In time for the regular Friday afternoon meeting?

did the eraly 40's only come with a drivers side mirror? Thats all mine has and I was wondering if that was normal.

The 68 model FJ40 was the first year to have both driver's and passenger's side mirrors. That was the first model year that they came from the factory mounted to the doors. Before that there was only a driver's side mirror which was mounted to the tub. The reason I say 68 model year is my 10/67 FJ40 had both mirrors along with the rest of the 68 changes.
