While i have the fenders off (for another top secret project), should i cut this hollow chamber off of the intake? I don't really see the purpose of it. I figured i would cut it off and plug the hole, so there is a more direct air intake. Or should i not because this is where the snorkle is attached. Let me know cause i'm making a move within an hour or two.

The snorkel replaces the whole contraption. The snorkel (at least the safari one) has a large diameter rubber hose that slips over the intake of the airfilter. So, you remove the entire air intake assembly that's in the fender area - mine went into the trash a long time ago...

george.

Thanks for the info george. Here's a sneak peak at what i've been up to.

yeah, I just pulled that whole pos contraption off. seems a little constrictive for the air flow, would maybe help a little in a deep water crossing but...

How'd you get mud on that thing? You haven't been in the mud, have you?

could it be antother pre cleaner?

or is it just a resonator/muffler?

either way it was put there for a reason, unless you need the space might as well just leave it be.

It an airflow resonator, supposed to muffle and cancel out any noise when the air rushes in. If you can't hear it, get rid of it.

It is a silencer. If you are not going to snork it I would leave it alone.

The air seems to be flowing as directly as possible to me! Chuck it if you don't like it and let us know if the inrushing air makes any difference in the sound.

There you go........

Actually...

On Honda's, these "Chamber Resonators" are there to muffle the noise from the fuel injectors (ticka-ticka-ticka).

Keep it on...no harm, no foul. ;)
