Shocks Thingy.

Hey all.
I was under the 60 this evening just checking everything out and i looked at my shocks-which are leaking i know, and i noticed these hose things hangin off them.
I have no idea.
Was wondering whether anyone would be able to help me out with what their purpose is.

Crank up the stereo and see if you can make your rig jump up and down.

X2 on the air shocks. Haven't seen them since the 70's..... They used to stub a line out near the rear bumper with a schrader valve on them so you wouldn't have to crawl underneath the truck to air them up....

I've tried that. I stab the accelerator at the right time and it bounces. Ha.
I'll have a look tomorrow in the sunlight and see where the line goes.
its a bit of a mess with that hose and ghetto trailer wiring the PO did.

The lines would run to a schrader valve located usually near the rear bumper. Airshocks have never been as good as the companies claim them to be.

well today i sussed out where the lines went and the come together at the back bumper into a valve like my pushbike tyre.
may take it to the servo tomorrow and see if they pump up.
any idea how much pressure to put in there?

That depends on how old they are - and I think there are pretty old by the looks of them...caution rules the day.
Air shocks are intended to stabilize a load. Most air shock manufacturers suggest a minimum of 25 P.S.I and up to as high as 125 P.S.I.
First see if you can find a brand label or mark on them and then Google for more info (or call a local parts house, as they should also have info).
