so far so good

I'm going to have to get creative for the cup holder

no cupholder... creative, no?

and painted....

tomorrow wire the stereo and start and the rear box(es)...I know it seems like I'm delaying, but a lot of this stuff needs to be done so I can finish wiring.... I also need to steal the HAM radio out of my H3 and find a place for it in here.

April 16th? Wow, only a week left. That is a lot of work to finish up. If anyone I know can make that deadline it's you. Since it's my 55th birthday next week can I have it for a birthday present?

I need to install the breather tubes.... it was the genesis of today's oil leaks

I took it to a friend's shop today - they made the suitable "nice rig noises" .... nice to hear after 18 months of work :)

I adjusted the arms on the suspension and tightened the nuts.... leveled the rig.... I really need to do something about the valving..... whether it's slow down the compression in the back, or slow the rise on the front - while it gives you that wheeling-lifting thrill of a dragster, I am pretty sure it's not going to be appropriate for this rig.... with that said, I saw double adjustable reservoirs for the Fox shocks .... toys :) - it certainly beats sending the shocks to California for a re-tune.

New shocks are one of those "after it's on the road" jobs. Looks like no takers for Evans Creek so I will probably be in the garage and yard this weekend instead. Need to service my air compressor and continue my gear indicator. Some day I'll post up pics of that. It's a fun mod.

Friends don't let friends have full wallets!

it's cool that people see my craptraps and enjoy them too.

One of my best friends I met because I built a C3 Corvette. He was thinking about building one, I let him drive mine (mind you, he's pretty citified) which is a non power steering, manual transmission, heavy clutch, holley double pumper, lowered, racing springs, side piped, wayyyy too radical cam car. Loved it so much he's building something even a bit more insane. The guy I sold that Corvette to was going to drive it a couple months then flip it, I talked to him last week (now a year since he bought it) and he says its now in his will and that he'll never sell it.... by far and away the most uncomfortable car I've ever built.

and I miss it too, but I have plans for version 4.0 (that was number 3). Cars are fun, but it's the friends I make in the building and enjoying that I value most.

Of course, Heep owners need their beauty sleep - so I did get some tuning things accomplished - now that it's aligned, it drives really well

however, while leaks are being solved and handling issues put to bed.... once it warms up it starts running quite badly, almost leaning out to the point it won't run.... with that said, I'll do the tests on the various components (they are new, but I've had bad, new parts) to make sure they're doing what's right and if that fails I'll now take it to my friend who owns the mechanic shop.... he's a savant at efi systems. Since this system is a sum of a lot of parts from different places....

but first I'll track down why the check engine light came on last time (didn't this time)... perhaps the saved code will save me a trip.

I always laugh at the "we have to get this done, then on a truck to a show" biggest lie 'reality' tv promotes. Though it's funny, Overhaulin did a car, once, that made the show circuit and it had a "rest of the story" that he'd gotten the car in the show, but didn't drive it because the engine had a spun bearing.... so a month later he gets the car with another, new engine.... that's reality. To those who read this - this, what I'm doing, is reality. You make it run then spend the next months or year solving issues... this one seems to be going together pretty quickly, but the Corvette I showed before took a solid year before it ever saw a race track and it was a bit frightening until all the issues were solved.
