the dakota digital dash snaps into the space, and to get it out you first need to remove the steering column, then open up the dash... not only that, but dakota digital won't sell you the controller unless you've bought a dash pod.... the controller is in a different place. Figure it this way, it'd take awhile to get out and it'd be easier to steal the whole vehicle.... of course, I have a plan for that as well that I'll mention next time we wheel.
 
Nice. Mine has a single harness behind that I can unplug.

Is your security system named "Buick"? That would do it if you ask me.

I like it. You could sell a ton of those on Mud. Maybe even Pirate too :p

Personally I prefer mine to be so ugly nobody would want to steal it.

I emailed your group, but never got a response. Glad to know what night of the month it lands, now I just need to try and make a meeting. Where are the announcements made?
 
So I went out and looked at the speedometer to see if it works... it doesn't - don't know why, yet... but while I was out








someone asked where my fire extinguishers were.... all over is the answer, but I'm down one now

The issue was I had two wires swapped (6 and 8) and it got the passenger side red-hot.... of course, that's the side that has the gas tank right above the muffler (yeah, could have been interesting had I not had a strong impression to fill the tank up earlier in the week)

I will put a shield there too.... but that darkening? didn't hurt the coating or the paint at all, that black came from the muffler hanger lighting on fire.

while I was at it tonight I put the turn-outs on


I'm not sure that's what I want - but it'll work for now...

now is the validation time - I have at least 2 oil leaks that need addressing; both are going to be a pain to fix; I also need to fix an exhaust leak on the driver's side.... but all-in-all, maybe I have learned something in the dozen or so major builds I've done and the list is actually pretty short...

at least it was the gas tank side :censor:

I've got some ceramic insulation that is going above the muffler... one thing, though, the cat was red hot and there was no damage around it - so there's adequate air space there....
 
That reminds me that I want to try some sound insulation above my fuel pump. I don't want to wrap it and cause it to overheat, just deaden the noise a little. Or rather a LOT. It is loud and annoying.

Also reminds me...

If the vehicle isn't on the road/registered, if something happens to the vehicle (even in the garage - be it stolen or up in flames).... your home or renters insurance does NOT cover the vehicle. You have to have an auto policy on it, even if not registered.

Mine is nowhere near the value of yours but does make me think that maybe it's time to put mine on insurance....

Something to think about...
