My shop is literally full of fire extinguishers. In the way-back machine is a little blurb on my resume that says "fire system tech" - which was, drive around, make sure the little window says "good", turn the extinguisher over a few times, then put a new tag on it... probably the number one most boring job I've ever done... which reminds me, I need to retag these and turn them over a few times (which actually is useful because it breaks up the retardant).

That said, it'd have to be something pretty major for me to use one of those things - they make an unbelievable mess.

lol, thank you - that was the point, they're 38.5s x 13.5

my goal for asthetics of this truck (ones that wouldn't bow to necessity) was to make most look at it and think that's how it came from the factory - it's helped that Dodge and Hummer both made large tires look not-so-large on their vehicles... and it's been successful, none of my non-gearhead friends realize 1/10th of what I've done to this - most say it's a 'nice restoration' which, given the goal, is a major compliment

and smack the bottom of them a couple times with a rubber mallet if they haven't been turned over recently.

Way back (for me, at least) I had an MR2 on jackstands in the garage of a rental the first time I fired it up on Megasquirt (first attempt at that as well, on a map meant for boost, and the SC wasn't engaged).

It caught fire through a hole in the exhaust and excessive amounts of fuel being dumped through the cat (glowing red). Luckily I got it out quickly, but didn't have an extinguisher on hand.

The importance of an extinguisher on hand for first starts couldn't have been more drilled into my mind than that instance. (I have a lot of odd MR2 stories... including one that drove through a garage door on it's own).

I know the feeling of having a static piece of "art" in the garage. :/

oh man, you ain't kidding! I used one at a job prior to my firefighting career. 1 year later, we were still wiping white powder out of corners and off walls 2 rooms away.

So where do you want to go wheeling first when you are done? Not much more to go.

ya know, that might not be a bad idea - set a date .... end of March? It should be in safe-drive condition by then... done? probably not, but a shakedown would be a good idea

Check out that right bicep on that pup!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that's when he was 2/3rd size.... the biggest issue I have with him is he needs a boost (ask Steve) to get into the car.... not sure how I'm going to achieve that with the '40.... maybe I'll put an engine hoist on the corner? (almost, but not quite a joke)....

End of March trail run sounds good.

You could buy a ramp from HF cheap. Use that off the tail gate. Or maybe fab a slick articulated ramp attached to the inside of the gate that you can fold down. You will need some sort of non-skid in back too. I thought of some sort of non-skid for my dog, but I always have a ton of gear with me. No room for the pooch.

fortunately the management doesn't read my thread anymore because this would get me banned for sure - but other then being utterly hateful, I think the idea of ridges on the top makes sense - makes it possible to stand on the roof....

perhaps someone should tell the owner that he has his grill shell on upside down?

I don't care what anyone says, there's a fxxx-ton of awesome in that build.

I met a welder at a local shop who wanted to build one just like that using a 45 series chassis.

And Yes, you should tell the owner his bezel is upside down. I mean sheesh, get it right, huh?
