Is the 80 really shift on the fly and if so how? If you watch this video its made mention at about 5:30 YouTube - MW 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser Road Test. It was my under standing that this applys from 2 high to 4 high, but the 80 is full time so no 2 high. You have to stop to go into 4 low so is it the cdl that is shift on the fly. I dont have the owners manual so i cant read it there. Just tryin to learn something new today.

i kinda figured that it was the cdl since you would have to stop to go into low. good to know since i got my cdl switch put in last week. thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong but in 93 there were not a lot of trucks with 4x4 without locking hubs. So shifting on the fly was just a way of saying shifting without locking the hubs.

Now shift on the fly means something different. You don't have to stop in order to go from 4-hi to 2-hi.
