New Here - first post. I’ve always dreamed of owning a Land Cruiser, and I finally made it happen with a 2003 100 Series. I absolutely love the styling and body lines on this model year. I was honestly surprised to find a touchscreen display in a 2003 vehicle! The previous owner chuckled and said, “Oh yeah, the GPS works too—as long as you stick to roads that existed in 2003.”
That brings me to my first challenge. I stopped by a local Sound on Wheels shop, but they told me there’s no replacement unit available for this series due to the number of components involved and the difficulty of the install.
Thankfully, it didn’t take long to discover some smart and creative solutions right here on the forums. I’m curious—are Tesla-style displays still the most popular upgrade option these days?

I’ve got big plans for this build. Here’s what I’m working with so far:
2” Dobinsons IMS lift kit
Prinsu Roof Rack
ARB Deluxe bull bar front bumper & IPF fog lights
Warn VR Evo 10S winch
17” Method 305NV wheels in matte black x5
285/70R17 Mickey Thompson Baja boss AT tires x5
Matching black spline drive lug nuts
Receiver hitch with flat 4 trailer wiring plug.
Will also add a roof top tent, most likely the Thule Basin Hardshell tent.

Happy to be here. Here are a few of the before pictures.

Welcome to 'Mud! Good looking 100. I do love a clean slate!

Tesla displays definitely aren't the most popular upgrade. GROM's VL2 is somewhat popular, but there are a few popular options. The search function here isn't awesome. But Googling "100 Series CarPlay, Bluetooth", etc. is good way to find threads on the topic - in this forum. Yeah, using google to search here. None of the solutions is perfect. But even the glitchy GROM is a big leap forward from the archaic system these trucks came with.

Thanks! I will check out the Grom's VL2

I would stay away from Tesla style HUs. I would prep for a full OEM nav delete, there’s a ton of info here about it in the post 03 delete thread. Buy once cry once, you’ll delete nav and be ready for any head unit you want.

Nice find, welcome to the cult.

I use a cassette deck and play Spotify through my phone.

That's my favorite color, nice Cruiser!
