Is there a hotspring by Sheeps Crossing? I thought the only one around was up by Childs?

yes, it is slightly north of the bridge at the south of the sandbank towards the western riverbank

when I was there last, it was right by the river - since the banks were so overgrown, you had to wade through the river to get to it

on KingBee's upright pic of the bridge, you see the sandbank, and a bushy tree to the left in the direction that the white 4-runner is pointing - that's where the hot spring is, right under that tree

since the hot water was flowing into the river continuously, I wouldn't be as concerned with contamination as I would be at Childs

I remember a foot path through the reeds to get in there but never checked it out.

The one in childs is contaminated from other human caused things....

:bang:

I know that the Forest Service was working on reinforcing the 14-day rule on camping in Childs - and some dog-leash rules (not sure that would have helped with the dogs leaving poop all over the place :frown:)

sounds like the trash won over :frown:

BTW, if anyone wanted to clean up the hot spring tubs: scoop out the garbage - pour in the bleach; wait a day, may have to repeat........

only long-term solution is to keep the idiots out

Uder dressed is in the eye of the beholder....! Although I guess it would depend on the vintage / model of the Peeps!

When I was there the peeps had no busness bein naked in public..... the little girlie (Prolly 22ish) that swam accross the river, only to be stark naked with a great body and NO grooming habits, had every right be naked..... she only stopped long enough to get her boots out of her backpack, put them on and hike away..... image hikin around and comin up to her?:hhmm:

first time we came by there was in canoes on a weekend trip guided by legendary (now deceased :frown: - God bless him) Vince van Horn - believe me, he was a genius with a canoe

anyway to cite Vince warning us in advance on our first trip ever down the river to Childs in a canoe "you may see some naked people at the hot springs - but they will all be like 300 pounds  "

sure enough, we paddle by down on the river, look up and see a mass of flesh

every time we talk about hot springs now, the imagery comes to mind that Vince instigated

We've been down the Verde on a canoe half a dozen times - let's just say sights at the Childs hot springs were way ahead of the ongoing obesity epidemic...
