Well, the a/c saga continues. I don't know what to do with that so I am moving on to other areas that need attention.

1. There is a minor exhaust leak. Appears to be a two piece exhaust manifold? How hard is this?
2. I don't know exactly what this is. I have what I would consider a mild bucking from the engine under cruising conditions. Not acceleration, not coasting with it in gear. Like when you are barely giving it enough gas to maintain the speed you want to go...Any thoughts?
3. Rear wheel seal. I am sure I can do this, but how long should I expect it to take? I have done it on a few Danas but never a Toyota...
4. Drivers seat, carpet. Anyone think it's possible to find the original fabric for thes seats? How about carpet sets?
5. I notice that my carb fan does not run. Haven't heard it anyway in a week of driving...Probably need to look at that as well.

It isn't as bad as it sounds. I don't think most people would even mess with the bucking thing. I am not sure that it may be a easy fix? Would you suggest EGR or perhaps a lean condition in the carb when cruising? Don't know what to do exactly. There appears to be quite a maze of vacuum lines and crap over there above the exhaust manifold. Feels like it leaking between the two manifolds...Not sure if there are two, but there are no leaks at the donut or against the block. I can feel it kind of under the carb...thanks, bryan

1. It's actually a 3-piece exhaust manifold. But the leak could most likely be the
EGR tube. And that might also help explain #2.
3. if you've done a wheel seal on a Dana, you can do it on a Toyota. I've only
actualy done this on a Hilux, but I think the design is the same.
4. Pull the carpet and use Herculiner or some similar urethane liner. Good seat
covers are inexpensive as well. :D
5. Haven't bothered to check mine out, but there's a temp sensor on the manifold
that is known to have a bad connection to its wires.

I think all of this has been discussed before, so searching the archives will
probably get you more in-depth info.
Good luck.

As mentioned, check the EGR, but from what I've read on the boards, a gasket leak in that area is fairly common. If an aftermarket gasket was used, it's likely that it's blown. Try tightening down all of the bolts to spec, and see if that helps. If you have to replace it, I think it can be done in a long afternoon. Use a Toyota gasket as a replacement if you have to switch it out.

This is another issue that's come up a few times in the last 6 weeks or so. Be a friend to the search function. In fact, search the word "bucking" - I think that was in the title of the last thread that really covered the gamut.

I'm about to do mine, too. Hey, I've got an idea: I'll drop mine off and you can do it first (but time yourself) and let me know how it goes ;) - looks easy enough, maybe a  and a half job. I expect to spend about 3 hours or so on it. yeah me.

4. Drivers seat, carpet. Anyone think it's possible to find the original fabric for thes seats? How about carpet sets?
OEM is all available. Last time I checked, OEM carpet set from sor was about $400 - seat kit for each seat was about the same. Bet you could get ti custom done at your fav interior shop much cheaper, and you can add great options to the seats (map pockets, better materials, more foam, etc)

5. I notice that my carb fan does not run. Haven't heard it anyway in a week of driving...Probably need to look at that as well.
You need to get this fixed. Do a search, but the most common fix is that the lead wire from the sensor burns through. The sensor is mounted just below the carb and pointing at the exhaust mani. Without the fan, the heat from the ex man boils out the gas in your carb and bakes the soft material in your accel pump. (and, if you get pissed at the hard starts and decide to just run the F out of the starter until you get results, you can fry fusable links - and that's a stupid thing to burn out and a bitch to find when it's the problem. Ask me how I know :bounce: )

Forgot to mention, get ahold of Cruiserdan from the boards and you'll get OEM parts and a discount - he knows these beasts inside out and can get you everything you need for each job (all the gaskets, seals, and things you may not realize you need)
