It's okay. I'm buying offsets.
Two years ago on a road trip our 2012 Sequoia 4.6 went into limp mode. Limped it into a Toyota dealer and they diagnosed a bad air injection switching valve which they replaced and we went on our way. No issues since then and the truck runs great but last week the check engine light came on. Since this is my wife's primary vehicle I made an appointment at the local dealer. They came back with you need us to "replace your air injection system including drivers, switching valves, pumps, hoses and tube." Price: $3,386. I nearly fell over, but not before I said no, I'm coming to get it.

I've been using this dealer for service since 2017 when my independent mechanic retired. They claim that the out of town dealer should have done all of this two years ago when we broke down. Of course since they scanned the codes and we got it back the check engine light is off. Are we driving around in a time bomb? Last night I read about a bypass kit that blocks off the air injection system and was wondering if anyone has had similar troubles and has dealt with them this way.

yes get it and never look back. I got an aftermarket secondary air system due to dealer price…they all fail and mine did as well…left me stranded. finally put this in, was easy and customer service is top notch. make sure you install the block off plates which are easy, unless you have lots of rust
