Phil, is the camping spot(s) near the river?

It can be but Im thinking we camp Coon Creek (3000') if too warm move up the road to higher elevation. Possible Workman creek area :meh: more depends on how many camper we end with.

As for fishing... with a group the size we are looking at I dont see a lot of opportunity for fishing on the rez unless we split up into several groups:idea:

In town from Denver this week and would love to tag along with you guys for Saturday day trip.

OK guys, excuse the noob/rookie question here. After reading through these messages, it is still not 100% clear to me whether we need to purchase a permit before we get there or whether we can purchase one at the Salt River Rec Area on Saturday. Seems if I read the message on the http://wmatoutdoors.org/special_use_regulations site that I need to buy two permits (one for the morning hours to noon and then one from noon on. Can someone please help to clarify this for me? Thanks everyone.

Permits

About the place to purchase the permits, it's just a Kiosk, at the start of the trail where you drop and envelope with the money and a sheet with your name etc.. Just like the National Forest Service Kiosks where you have to pay the entrance fee with a check or cash. That is also the air down spot, so no way to miss it. I plan on just bringing cash to drop in the envelope, but they also accept checks,... :meh:

Guys - thanks a lot for the clarification. The question from my previous post was completely answered. Much appreciated. See you all in the AM.

That water crossing looks awesome nice job guys! Another one down in the books.

A great trip and overnight camping with the group from Payson :)

fIrst pic if you look bottom right of picture is the intense glare from Pullboy's light bar(s) from about a mile away

Last pic is the birthday boy and trip sponsor Manuel trailering his nice off road trailer through a side trip down to the Salt river.

It got down to 44 last night next to workman creek. Nice to feel the cool temps and be comfortable in the sleeping bag. Glad summer is going away!
