My mistress of 15 years needs a new lover--

She has many special attributes including:
5 speed tranny (only one year old)
OME heavy suspension
ARB bull bars front and back
custom roof rack with hi-lift jack and marine cleats for easy access
10k Warn winch (needs new solenoids)
dual batteries with isolator
16 inch wheels

What she needs:
Someone to pay more attention to her before she gets too ugly.
Although she has 260k miles, she is a proud daily driver with a fresh inspection in Feb. She has the usual bumps and scratches for a girl her age, she could use a compound job on her paint, but rust is her biggest threat--quickly taking its toll in the usual LC places like the tailgate and her rear mudflaps are hanging on for dear life. Her frame is still good and the interior is definitely used-a wear spot on drivers seat, the carpet has 15 years of coffee spills in some places but otherwise looks in order to the casual observer. Little things like oil temp gauge not working, choke knob is loose, parking brake needs adjustment, knuckles could use a rebuild, small rear seal leak, AC barely works.

She is fine to use as is, but would be much better suited for rehabbing to her former beautiful glory.

$7900

She is stabled in the WV Panhandle near Charles Town

seven oh three, six two three, seven oh two four

I think that we should not critique pricing. God knows if you have a cruiser that it can where your wallet out. That being said, maybe we sell these things too cheap considering how much we have in them.

What do you think is a fair price then?

The 5 speed trans is worth nearly $3k installed (what I paid last Jan), bull bars, roof rack and various other accessories not listed (thule bike rack to fit roof rack, CB radio, stereo, boxes of spare parts) would be worth $2k, then the truck itself with a strong healthy engine and frame would be worth the rest.

I am open to offers and I would much rather have her go to someone here that will care and use their LC than put it on craigslist and have somebody drive into the junkyard. I no longer have the time or the means to keep this LC from getting past the tipping point.

I am open to offers.

Considering the amount of decent add-ons and the fact that it's a DD definitely makes it more valuable than a stock one in similar condition. With that said, I'd suggest you post up a TON more pics of the undercarriage, engine compartment, interior and any of the other areas that have rust. You will attract a lot more potential buyers if you show the areas as well as talk about them.

Rust is the biggest buzzkill on affecting value with all vehicles. If it's just concentrated to just the areas you say I would pay $6k-$6.5 for it. Any rot on the frame whether repaired or still lurking and you are in for a time getting rid of it. My 2 cents. GLWS:cheers:!!

I like it! Got all the stuff I want on my rig. Good luck with the sale!

OK, with sound advice from Toomanytoyzz here is a link to over 50 pix of the old girl.

Also, I AM DROPPING THE PRICE TO $6500.

I bought this FJ stock in SoCal in 1999 with 110k on her. She has had a little of everything done over that time and I have records in a folder. Clean title.

As you will see, the frame is quite healthy and thick with only surface rust (I wire brushed and powder coated it when I first got it and this has done a good job up to now). Motor and frame mounts look good. The rocker panels are in better shape than I expected -almost like new. The rust IS a problem in the tailgate (especially the bottom), the rear quarter panels and along all wheel well edges--it has gotten through in the rear driver's side wheel well.

The engine starts easily and runs strong--there is a small barely noticeable exhaust leak somewhere up front in the manifold or EGR. The rear seal weeps but not enough to have to add oil between changes. The front knuckles should be rebuilt/ looked at. Parking brake barely works.
BF Goodrich AT tires have tread but are getting hard and really should be replaced-there is an unused one with matching wheel as a spare.

The interior is fair--headliner is still up but dirty, carpet has some coffee stains that I don't think will come out. Drivers seat has a tear (I just put a seat cover over it). Dash has some cracks/hole. Rear seat is fine as are the doors and panels-- a couple of the doors are JUST starting to show signs of rust in the very corners at the welds.

Other things I forgot to list-- Nerf bars, Cobra CB radio, Sony CD/Radio, Thule bike racks (2), IPF driving lights, a rear light (with switch to work as backup light), box of various LC parts

I have loved this girl for many years and I hope there is someone who can keep loving her how she needs to be loved.
