When I upgraded my tires and rims last fall, I hung onto the stock rims and they are on a set of Michelin defender LTX M/S 275/65R18 with very little wear. What do you all think about keeping stock rims for vehicle resale vs letting them go? What would be a fair price to list them for? What have you found is the best way to list them (ebay?) I have the same question about my stock running boards.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

If you plan to get rid of the vehicle in the next few years, I’d keep the wheels. If you plan to keep it for 5+ years, I’d get rid of them.

Personally, I always prefer to run OEM wheels on all my vehicles, but if I weren’t using a set, I sure as hell wouldn’t keep it in the garage for years and years.

Each person has a different situation with this, I don't think we can answer this for you. Do you have room to store them without them being in the way? Do you have any plans to get a dedicated set of winter tires? Do you plan to trade the truck in, or sell yourself? How long are you going to keep it?

They're probably not worth as much as you think. I got lucky and was able to communicate with the PO of my truck, and he still had the original rims, he gave them to me for my winter tires.

And I gave away my stock running boards.

I held onto my stock rims, but wonder if it is just a waste of storage space (I have plenty though). If you don't keep vehicles long, I think selling or trading with stock rims tends to be better.

I appreciate the thoughts. I have room to store them. I don't plan on winter tires. I always sell my vehicle's myself. I plan to keep if for a long time, but I've said that before.
I know when I'm shopping for a used vehicle I'm always looking for stock. It seems the older the vehicle is I'm looking for, the harder it is to find stock.

Sell them and the money you get for them reinvest in mods:)

Then I think for the right buyer, having the stock rims as a second set for winter tires is a big plus.

On the practical side, at least in my area, LC stock rims (even with good tires on them) are all but worthless. I tried for months to sell my set of 5 wheels with mounted tires for $250 and got no interest except by one guy with a Highlander for which they would not fit. So, I’m now just storing them. Luckily, I have a large building with space to do that.

Same here. Been sitting on my 2013 OEM wheels with zero interest. Considering powder coating them and putting on some 35's for a quick swap when hitting more difficult trails. I don't want 35s all the time, but they would have been fun for a trip like LCDC.

I get scared and chicken out of difficult trails, so it would be more like camping with 35s. Still sounds cool.

I sold 5 LC wheels for 400$ on mud. took a week. The thing with rubber... it rots. maybe post the tires and get rid of em. I kept my stock wheels and didn't want an extra set taking up storage space. My vote is to sell it.

Yea I agree. Seems like the tires should go to a new home that might get some use out of them. They were great road tires and still have tons of life left.

If you have a Discount Tire they will buy tires off you.. Don't know if they do that only when you're buying a new set or not. Also maybe other tire shops might buy them as well if you don't have luck selling and don't want to sit on them.

The fact you’ll get very little for them if you sell....

...is the same reason I wouldn’t bother storing them—as you’ll be able to add them back later for dirt $ if you feel the need (I suspect you won’t).

I mean... I’ve seen LC for-sale ads headlining that its got “stock wheels!” pretty much.......never. ;)

Curious, is there a quick way (site configurator) to tell what other vehicles the stock LC 200 tires will fit? I have 5 with 11k miles (spare has never seen pavement)? Need to unload them and get out of my garage.
