Would be grateful for some info.
I have a bit of oil spraying onto my wheels from my selectro f/w hubs, and would like to split tham and regasket them as necessary - however, after taking off the end cap and spring, I am not able to disconnect the main outer section of the hub, where the leaks appear to be coming from. I have undone the 6 nuts as necessary and I can slide the outer section about an inch before I get a lot of resistance. I do not have a manual for these hubs, and so do not know what lurks inside.
Any comments?
BTW - I want to keep these hubs, as I do very little 4wd work to warrant the expenditure on alternatives.
Thanks in advance.

You have to take out the little screw pieces in the outer section. Take them all the way out, i remember there being either two or three, and the cap will slide off. there is a clip inside on the axle shaft, take it out and you are home free. They are a pain to put back together. I didn't like them, they wouldn't engage, I got new ones.

Good luck

In case your attempt tp repair rhe selecto(s) is unsuccessful I'm pretty sure that the original constantly locked hub cover (whatever it's called) is still available from dealers at a nice low price - maybe $6.00 or so. Give cruiserDan a call or p-mail to see if he can get them, if you want.

My JDM BJ40 still has the locking caps on it and I don't notice any adverse effect at all. The truck drives, steers, and sounds fine. With those, should you ever have occasion to venture out into some situation that makes four wheel drive desireable you will be saved the bother of having to exit your seat in order to lock your hubs. Simply engage the front axle and continue back to the safety of a road.

I thought the Selectro's were pretty cool!

Mine had no trouble engaging, until 1 blew up in Moab - :frown:

I dig the funky styling though...

I need to post a pic of mine, yours is ugly TJ, my caps are solid chrome plated, and they shine up really nice. They have always worked quite well. They are an older model, because I have seen the newer versions like yours, mine looks to be a tad bit better unit.
