My check engine light came on yesterday and after reading the owner's manual and checking to see if the gas cap was securely tightened, I dropped the truck off at the Toyota service center in Marietta GA.
I get a call back an hour later telling me that the O2 sensor is seized and that they will have to replace the driver's side manifold along with installing a new O2 sensor. All this for around $1500.00!!!
Has this happened to anyone on these forums? I can't imagine a skilled mechanic not being able to address this issue without having to pull the manifold.
By the way I have a 99 model that has no rust (for those of you thinking that perhaps I drive along beaches all day and that the severe trauma I put my truck through everyday is manifesting itself).
Long story short, I ended up calling ACC Toyota Truck and Land Cruiser in Atlanta and they said they would take a look at it. Those guys have taken good care of me in the past so I am hoping that they can somehow un-seize the sensor.
