Seems my LX has automatic emergency braking...

Here's my anecdote about the automatic emergency braking in the 200:

My 2010 manual makes reference to brake assist both within the confines of PCS and one mention outside of it. So it seems it may be a standard feature. I have yet to experience it. I don't have PCS, but also haven't really had an emergency braking situation.

2-4. Using other driving systems
Driving assist systems

To help enhance driving safety and performance, the following systems
operate automatically in response to various driving situations. Be aware,
however, that these systems are supplementary and should not be relied
upon too heavily when operating the vehicle.

■Multi Terrain ABS (Anti-lock Brake System)
Helps to prevent wheel lock when the brakes are applied suddenly, or if
the brakes are applied while driving on a slippery road surface, or in offroad
conditions (such as rough roads, sand and mud).
■Brake assist
Generates an increased level of braking force after the brake pedal is
depressed, when the system detects a panic stop situation.

■VSC (Vehicle Stability Control)
Helps the driver to control skidding when swerving suddenly or turning on
slippery road surfaces.
■Active TRAC (Traction Control)
Maintains drive power and prevents the 4 wheels from spinning when
starting the vehicle or accelerating on slippery roads.
■Hill-start assist control
Helps prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards when starting on an
incline or slippery slope. The hill-start assist control only operate for 5 seconds
when engaged.
■VGRS (Variable Gear Ratio Steering)
Adjusts the wheel turning angle in accordance with the vehicle speed and
steering wheel movement.
■Pre-Collision System (if equipped)
P. 265

Safety systems such as the brakes and seat belts are automatically
engaged to lessen impact and injuries to occupants as well as vehicle damage
when the radar sensor detects an unavoidable frontal collision.
■Pre-collision seat belts (front seats only)
If the pre-collision sensor detects that a collision is unavoidable, the precollision
system will retract the seat belt before the collision occurs.
The same will happen if the driver makes an emergency braking or loses
control of the vehicle. (P. 94)
■Pre-collision brake assist
Applies greater braking force in relation to how strongly the brake pedal is
depressed.
■Pre-collision AVS
If the system determines that the collision is unavoidable, the operation of
AVS (P. 249) helps prevent the vehicle front from going down when
hard brakes are applied.

Does this “seem to keep happening” when she is putting lipstick on in the mirror?
Nope. I'm a smarter man than that!

I notice the same brake pre loading when coming off radar cruise to a stopped car. Even though it will fully stop and resume for me, I prefer to keep a safer coasting distance. Regardless of my effort though the brake pedal is way too sensitive to modulate correctly and I have to remember not to step on it beforehand every time.

I think the radar cruise is great it just brakes too late sometimes in traffic and is too goofy for me to trust. It’s much better on long road trips where you are not stopping at all.

I wonder if it can be adjusted at all and I’m guessing those with heavier wheels and tires may actually smooth it out some.

The entire PCS system can be bypassed by holding the radar-distance config button for a few seconds.
Does cruise control still work? Where is that button? This would be great when the radar gets a thin film of slush on it and fails the cruise control system.

I don’t know. Haven’t tried. I would think not.

Had exact same experience as the OP when deer jumped out in front of me. I applies the brakes quickly, but did not depress the pedal fully. System took over, seatbelts pulled me into the seat; brake pedal when damn near to the floor, rig stopped in a matter of less than 10 feet from 35 mph. I have a 2014. Cool feature.

This button?

My '11 definitely felt like it did this a week or so ago. I was pretty confused but I guess that explains it.

You can always bypass the radar cruise control by pressing and holding the cruise control button.

Yes, but to be determined if cruise control can work with slush on the radar antenna, which is my concern.
