Introductions and Seattle area TLC mechanic recommendations

I know that this has been brought up before a couple times, but I thought I would use this as my introduction plus see if I could get some advice. I've been on ih8mud quite a few times, and finally got around to joining.

I got my first Land Cruiser about a year ago and I love it. I'm an absolute rookie when it comes to LCs and auto mechanics in general, but I've loved the FJ60 since I was a kid and I couldn't pass it up. Plus, I think it helps me keep in touch with my Idaho roots.

My ultimate goal is to get it working in as tip-top shape as possible then do any necessary body work after that.

I haven't had it professionally looked at so I'm a little in the dark about its official 'condition'. My gut says it's overall in good shape with a few obvious things that need done. Hopefully my gut is right.

Do you have any recommendations for someone in the Seattle/Eastside area that could give it a once over, maybe run some tests, and give me an honest opinion on the condition and what needs to be done?

I am also willing and excited to learn and would love to eventually maintaine my rig myself, but like I said, I'm pretty green. If there is anyone willing to show me the ropes, I could repay you through payment, manual labor, car washes, etc. I also know my way around computers, so I'd be happy to get your PC running in tip-top shape in exchange for some much needed education.

Thanks for your help.

Ryan - welcome :flipoff2:

I live just south of Seattle and have a couple recommendations. There is someone up north a bit that i've heard great stuff about - bull. Bullsac.com Bullington Speed and Custom

I had difficulty getting ahold of him since he is so busy. I think new kid etc. I connected with OlympiaFJ60 (Brandon) of OlympiaFJ60.net | Land Cruiser Obsessions - it's a bit of a drive, but i HIGHLY recommend him. He is a great guy to talk with and does quality work. It's nice to have someone take that extra minute of time to do it right, rather than just slap it together. Finding a good cruiser mechanic was a priority for me - too many bad experiences in the past...

It is worth driving to olympia to me when i need professional help. Less and less hopefully. I have yet to connect up with the local cruiser guys - there was a meeting yesterday i couldn't make (family in town).

PM me if you ever want to hook up and get a hand on something. I've had 3 cruisers and can probably at least give you some pointers or things to lookout for. I'll give you my cell/email and we can chat.

Welcome and good luck!!

Ya, Rodney is one knowledgeable and smart dude. Good guy. All the rest of us pretty much wrench on our own rides. I've had over 9 60's, 4 40's, 4 45's and 3 80's. Done some work for a few guys in the area, but its really about the time factor for all of us. We all are ballancing between work, family and our own cruisers.

If you want to talk cruiser swing by. I'm on the Eastside and can look it over for ya for an Oatmeal Stout...

The forum here is all you need though if you have some mechanical ability, but its probably the same thing for you... finding the time.

Welcome to the forum and post some pictures up!
