While the seats in my 67 were original, they were really brittle, torn in spots and the foam had no more life. So, I took my front seats and the jump seats to a great upholstery guy here in San Antonio and he did his magic. The seat frames and coils were in great shape already, so he added new foam, a saddle color for the main color and dark brown piping. I also cleaned and degreased 47 years of gunk. Happy, happy, happy.

Thank you! The tool bag was a nice find under the seat. It has everything including the inspection light which has never been used. Never even seen that before.

Yea, finding that tool bag was lucky for sure. Very cool. Post pics of the whole cruiser if you get time. Would like to check it out.

Did you buy it from the original owner? Very rare the tool roll stays with a vehicle that long. Only tool roll I got with a FJ40 was from a original owner who had the cruiser for over forty years. When he traded in his 63 to buy the 70 he keep the tool roll. He was in his eighties when I bought it and forgot the tool roll was under the seat until I showed him while looking at it. Glad I showed him it reminded him he still had the 63's tool roll which I purchased.

You were smart to beef up the padding. When the PO of mine recovered the seats he didn't and I have to use a seat cushion on top of the seat to drive it.

Those look great. I used the SOR kit a few years back, they worked out pretty nice too (dark slate color).

I have a '65. Can you remove your top without removing the rear seats? I find it nearly impossible hoisting, so possibly sliding into/out of place horizontally? I also can't fold the driver's side rear seat without the driver's seat pulled forward.

...as I suspected. I guess my upholstery guy will be happy. Can't bring myself to buy the covers that do not match the rest of the original seats. He found a very good matching vinyl. Just tore off the seat covers to reveal all original hores hair and some foam padding. I hate to dispose it but upholsterer says it is not useable. Any market for used horse hair??
