Hi,
I want to upgrade the rear belts in my 86 HJ60 from lap belts to something that will make me feel better about having my kids in the back. I looked into converting to a standard shoulder belt mounted to the pillar, but my mechanic said it usually didn't look that good and he also was reluctant to tackle the job for liability reasons.
I then came across this 4-point system and it looks good to me. Simple to install compared to the shoulder belt retrofit and probably more secure. Anyone have thoughts/experience with this?

How old are your kids? I've never seen a carseat that will work with a 4-pt harness system...

I'm working a similar issue on my 40 but I have a full cage that I'll be able to tie into and I need the 3-pt belts so they'll work with the carseats...

hi,
I did search the earlier posts, but there's not much on the 4 point... I did see the other posts on the shoulder belt conversion, but it looks more complicated and wanted to see if anyone had used the product I linked to or if they knew of a better one.
My kids are just moving out of car seats and one is in a booster seat, so it's that stage where I want more than just a lap belt. The other issue is headrests to prevent whiplash... but seatbelts first.
Thanks to those who replied. I'll post pics after I decide what to go with.

Trick with the 4-pt belts would be coming up with a solid way to anchor them...In a 40 it is common to have a bar behind the seats going from side to side between the roll bar. In a 60? I'm sure something could be fab'd up

Good luck!

The rear seat belt upgrade is very easy. My bet it is much easier than doing a 4-point system. $OR has the kit - kind of pricey but I was lazy and paid it. Maybe Cruiser Dan could get them cheaper?

It isn't the best - but better than the stock lap belt setup. You just have to make sure that the hole in the pillar is threaded...to do that you'll have to cut the fabric and peek inside.
