It was a great battery for 3 years. It has a four year warranty and was MADE 10/2013. Sears will not honor the warranty because I installed it myself and have no receipt. Keep in mind it was MADE 10/2013 and I could not buy it before it was made. Perhaps this is just a lemon but I'm not buying another odyssey battery. It cost $230 and lasted only 3 years and they would not honor the warranty. By the way it was putting out only 320 amps today, from the rated 850 new.

I cooked one but got it replaced under warranty. It was really my fault for not using the correct charger on it. The replacement is still going strong after a couple years in the truck and now 2 or 3 on my camper.

I'd buy one again.

Sears has been pretty poor with every item I've tried to warranty in the last 8+ years. They used to replace ratchets and stuff straight up, anymore I go in and they tell me they can send it out and have it rebuilt but I pay shipping etc... crapsman is supposed to be a lifetime warranty on hand tools??? Their I bought a washer from them and the thing lasted maybe a year before it hit the dust and even under warranty they tried to tell me they wouldn't replace it. Told them I had no problem taking their as$ to small claims and they refunded my money and asked me to leave. If I can buy stuff elsewhere I do my best to do so. Odyssey batteries I've not heard many poor reviews on except for lately also. I'd like to know myself because I am soon to be in need of a quality battery for a project in the works.

Couldn't they look up your info in their computer?
I'm surprised.

I bought it from them and took it home to install...just because an 80 driver can't have someone else install their battery. Funny thing is it's from the same sears and it's the same sears Rep thats been there for years. Great idea with the receipt above. I'll do that tonight for the 3years warrantied lead acid battery.

Costco Batteries have a great Warranty and are now made by Interstate.....Sorry you got burned on this one.

Im just about to go in for my third replacement. I only get about three years out of the too. Almost to the day. You can't get a direct replacement but there is a different one available now that replaced it. I don't have the specs but I'll try to update my experience when I have time to get it done. I have a dual batt system so I can run off of that if I need to. Just have them look you up in there system. I am very disappointed with the battery. I have an optima yellow top that has been in three cars over 12 years and it's still going strong. Crazy, I know. They don't have the best rep either.

I have the PM1 btw

I just got a Costco battery a few weeks ago. I found out the OEM is Johnson Controls. Seems like a decent battery. My local Costco keeps your battery info on file, so no need for a receipt for warranty replacement.

I have a real grey/red case Odyssey - it's been great as a fix for 3 craptastic Optimas (yellow, red, red) the battery store I now use exclusively sells.

They dropped Optima & so my pro-rated replacement was a so-so fresh replacement in an Odyessy. I zap it down on my 12K winch & only have a hand throttle, it's survived & bounced back from every pull to date. IIRC mine's a '12/'13 battery too.

No one can buy one again. They longer exist. Contract wasn't renewed with Odyssey.

True but you can still buy an Odyssey so, other than the lack of customer service from Sears, the tread is still relevant. For the record I've moved over to the X2 Power (NorthStar) batteries available from Batteries + Bulbs.

My local Sears did not care who installed my battery, I don't even remember if I had the receipt? I pulled it in the parking lot. They ran a load test on it. Took a few hours, they had a few before mine. It failed, and I walked out with a new battery no charge. Re-installed and drove home.

Granted this was 2 years ago, and Sears is spiraling fast towards bankruptcy. With no stock of Platiums to pull from the current warranty replacement options are non-existent.

Exactly why I put this post up. I was planning on replacing my existing batteries with the odyssey batteries when the time came. After this I am no longer going to plan on Odyssey. The quality and reliability of the odyssey batteries may not be what we had expected. And the service from Sears regarding your batteries is obviously not up to par. It drives me nuts that the born on date from the battery was recent enough that I couldn't have purchased it more than 4 years ago and it was still under warranty they would not honor the warranty.

Sears will be out of business by year end anyway.

Buy a Costco or Interstate Batteries. Both companies have strong financials and will be around for many years to come.

Really sounds like a Sears thing more than Odyssey - but I'm still on my 1st one & the local shop is super conscious about getting you a fresh battery when you buy, why I got a ~18mo old one for a Optima pro-rate replacement.

They don't want to ever crap a sale/service as batteries / battery products is all they do.

I get service on my stuff no matter who drops it in, that excuse you got sounds lame as all getout. I'd ask for anything that is same/same as replacement, see if the guy eases up since he know he can't get you a Diehard Odyssey. Never hurts to ask & harass, he'll be in the unemployment line soon enough.

Sears telling you they will not honor the warranty because you installed it youself is a giant pile of B.S. Neither Sears warranty terms nor Oddysey's have any provisions for such denial. Honda tried something similar with me years ago so I held the warranty paper in front of parts managers face and asked him to point out where it says that.

Yeah I heard Sears Warranty blows. Thats why I never buy them. My autozone gold battery is awesome tho. 3 yrs now and replacemed under warranty no questions asked.

I'm on my second under warranty and don't have much faith in it. The current replacement had been on the shelf for almost 9 months when they gave it to me. It seems to be getting weaker. I took it to sears lately for them to say it was just fine. We shall see!
