For a 4,2 Liter Diesel it could be more than 8 times Tax Uprise !!!
Instead of EUR 173,- it could be EUR 1578,39 from 1.of May

Thats caused by the fact that they are Taxed as a Truck right now, so you have to pay for the weight/payload. = 173 €

From 1.of may they want to tax them like passengercars by the enginevolume & emission class.
For a Diesel without a catalyt that would be 37.58€ per 100ccm = 1578,39€ a YEAR!

...

I knew that these econazis we got in our government are no good, but they really top any thinkable kind of stupidity.

So whatever you think about saving the whales, birds, ill minded politicians......never ever vote for these kind of wa++ers. Better think about saving your Land Cruiser and his worth in $$!

Holy crap, I feel your pain

Good luck, I hope you guys can sort this out ! :ban:

I have looked at prices of trucks in the french and spanish alps, mostly 60 and 70 series diesels, and the prices are comparable to Canadian prices. what this german dude is asking is insane, but remember that germany is big and rich. he'll find a collector that drops that kind of money...

Spanish Alps ???!? WTF ?

Pyrenees ?

don't be an ass :)
yes, pyrenees. I am sure you are aware of how often 'alps' is substituted for 'high mountains'...

Fj40Garage:

Is this the final implementation of the EU energy/carbon tax - Germany's interpretation or something entirely different? I had heard that except for the issue of soot traps, all other aspects had been worked out and it wasnt to onerous. Sorry to hear thats not the case.

Maybe not that particular one, but you can get LJ's from 2000 euros (3200 CDN) to 4000 Euros (6500 CDN) and sprinkle a BJ73 for 5600 Euros (9000 CDN). The trade off to your mint condition trucks with low miles is LHD. :)

agreed, curious and forgive me if i have asked this before, have you tried a RHD? if you have then i will shut up now, if not you really should, it is quite easy (with the right teacher)
cheers

Problem is our dollars are weak against the euro.. Nice rigs. Me likey stock cruisers.

For 11000 E I would buy that 80 series diesel in a heartbeat.....but if I did I would not have a heartbeat cause the wife would kill me !!! I WILL BE HAVING ONE IN A FEW YEARS THOUGH !!!
If I never just blew a wad on the bj62 then I probably could get one....oh well will have to wait a few .

Wayne, some places where the traffic is busy make RHD a PITA. Where I live if you want to actually move out of your own way you have to pass a s***load of trucks, tractors and such... This is why I bought a LHD 70 for DD duties in order to replace my RHD, which I didn't even start using as such

If it's mostly for cruising and offroading, RHD is just fine :)

Not sure any of you guys remember or know a fellow in Eastern Canada, he use to bring in real nice German crusiers prolly 4 or 5 years ago.

One of the nicest 1984 BJ42s in Green with zero rust(Landpimp is drooling as I write this) ended up on Vancouver Island, specifically Victoria.

Anyhow he also brought in some really nice HJs back then also.

He travels to Germany at least once a year, guess it is no longer feasable with the Euro as high as it is today.

To bad, gotta love those left hand drive diesels.
