Search: Red / White interior LED dome light, with switch

Hello All,

I once saw a post by a Mud member with a great mod, combining red and white LED panels to the interior dome lights with a switch so you can have either red or white (the white can be a bit much while driving or sleeping). I've done multiple searches so am finally posting, sorry in advance if I'm overlooking something obvious. Seems simple enough to figure out but why re-invent the wheel..

Pretty sure you can get everything you need at superbrightled.com
I think the controllers can change the colors.
Don't shoot me if I am wrong. Just bought LED lights for the interior of mine. Didn't go with any colors though.

That is a good idea switching between the red and white. Can't wait to see how it's done. I recently switched to an all red led dome light and like it a lot better than the bright white I had. The white was so bright I just kept it off most of the time so it wouldn't blind everyone when a door was opened. The red is bright enough for 99% of the time and doesn't hurt the eyes. I keep a flashlight handy for the other 1%.

There *is* a thread on this out there! I don't seem to have the skills to find it. The op had the card styl LEDs next to each other and wired in a simple radio shack switch drilled into the side of the dome assembly. Gonna take a swing at it if I can't find it, and feel free to search and post back if you find it.

Interesting mod, I agree that the white is blinding at times. Might have to try this!

I put a red LED in my front dome (red only). much better, still a little bright. wish you could dim those things

waiting 'til I get a block of time to hit a few other interior projects to do the middle light - I also need to figure out a pesky flicker issue with the middle dome light. if you have any remedies for that..

You might want to take a pair of needle nose pliers and bend the contacts closer together. Hopefully that alleviates your issue.

middle dome light, festoon type bulb. I put dual 48smd panels in that light. The electrical contacts need to be tight or else they will flicker.
