Ordering my Flaming River joints today....wanna be sure I get the right one for the steering box connection.....

Pulled the caliper to it last night, measured .80 diameter. 13/16 = .81...and splines counted 36....does this sound right??

(hate to order parts twice!)

Thanks!

Sounds perfect to me. That is what mine is :)

Just don't make the mistake of getting the 3/4" 36 spline!!!

I think there were two differnet spline diameters and counts... I know mine was different than the saginaw writeup on the tech pages, but the diameter was a dead giveaway.
I am pretty sure my box was .720"/36...

If you mic'd it, you ought to be fine.

The second spline type was a 3/4 30 spline.
It would be obviouly different.

Flaming River joints showed this weekend...13/16-36 is the final.

<whew>

how about for GM Saginaw?

The Saginaw Model 800 power steering boxes are the ones used by GM. IIRC the older (pre '77) have 13/16" diameter shafts with a 36-spline count. After '77 they are 3/4" x 30 spline. Given the possible variations, you really need to measure and count for your specific application.

All of my scout PS boxs were the 13/16 x 36. Also they will take a GM pitman arm.
