Sure would be nice if the tech links had a bolt pattern guide similar to what it has for the chevy saginaw box...........

Anybody have the ability to help me out????

Thanks I want to weld the plate on and drill and tube....

Thanks

I've got a picture. Would that help?

It's in a 55 frame.

THANKS!!!!! That will be a good start. As simple as it is i never thought of half tubing the frame for clearance. What was that short pitman arm off of? I will post a picture of the plate I installed tonight. I loaded it all on the trailer tonight and it is going to be headed for blasting tomorrow.

Oh my plans are to:
I plated the inside of the frame with 3/16
I am going to leave the outside of the frame stock so that i dont stick the box out towards the tires anymore than i have to since i am planning for a larger amount of tire than most run here (I am young and stupid). I will pipe/tube the frame for added support on the bolt holes after it is coated with por-15 and i will touch it up with a brush.

Again thanks for taking the time to post the picture :)

You might want to think about clearing your radiator, with the p/s box. Usually have to space it OUT from the frame 3/4", to clear the rad support. Just a heads up. Good luck, Al

Mounting Dimensions

Here's some pics w/dimensions. One caveat, I'm a cabinetmaker, not a machinist, so all measurements will reflect what I am comfortable with. Please excuse the rusty combo square, my best tools are at work.

Pic 1: Scout box shown from frame mount side. This pic makes the big rectangular knob on the left end of the barrel look bigger and taller than it really is. It is really no farther from the casting line than the ring on the opposite end of the barrel.

Pic 2: 1 3/16ths from mounting surface to casting line on barrel

Pic 3: 2 7/8ths from mounting surface to widest part of casting. Use this to check clearance to radiator.

More pics on next post

Most Excellent work, handcannon. Thank you. Perhaps we need more cabinetmakers in the tech section...

More Pics

Pic 1: Bolt holes are 15/32nds diameter (7/16ths +), top hole is 1 15/64ths from casting line to centerline of hole, bottom hole is down 1 13/16ths from centerline of top hole to centerline of bottom hole. These holes are closest to the bumper.

Pic 2: Back hole is 2 59/64ths (2 15/16ths - ) from casting line to centerline of hole. This hole is closest to the firewall.

Pic 3: Front hole centerline to back hole centerline is 4 3/16ths.

One more pic to go.

Last Installment-Pics

The two front holes appear to be at 90* from the casting line.

So if you use the casting line as your reference point you should be able to locate the holes even if the casting line does not end up setting flat on your frame. All you would need to do would be to factor in the angle of the casting line to your frame to locate the bolt holes.

Hope this is of some help to you 4X4 SW, and any others that are needing this kind of info.

One last thought. If somebody out there has access to a CAD program I would be interested in seeing this drawn out and tried to see how well it works.

THANKSSSSSSS I am very appreciative of your help! This will allow me to utilize the pictures given to me on the frame and your measurements I feel comfortable fabbing it up with out a box!!! As for mounting it without spacing it out thanks for the heads up but i am planning to move my rad over to clear. THANKS THOUGH......
