One of the most influential and inspirational persons in the 4 wheel drive community passed away this morning. Scott lost his battler to cancer and will be missed. Many of you know him, many if you might have interacted with him, but he was a true champion of 4 wheeling, keeping access open, rebuilding the trails, Uwharrie mountains, 4 wheel drive education, and just an overall outstanding person and friend. He will be missed by many.

And a toyota fan, he was the one who told me long ago to get an 80 series, he had a few.

Scott and Tim Bleuau at Overland Expo. Jim Callahan and I met him for the first time.

Oh no.... what a shame, we did lose an icon today, i met him only a few times....

Should the club do a FOU donation or similar in his honor? I didn't know Scott, but know his name and have only heard the kindest of words.

The family just posted this on facebook

From Alex Fields

"Scott's viewing is on Wednesday June 20, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. His funeral will be Thursday June 21, 2018. All donations will be given to Southern Four wheel Drivers Association. Please share with everyone. Scott deserved the world.
Forbis & Dick Funeral Service - North Elm Chapel. 1118 N. Elm Street. Greensboro , NC 27401"

He was the best. Talked to him multiple times at 36 hour race and exchanged tons of emails with him. 36 hour race would not exist without his involvement. He was asking questions about a 100 and was about to buy one. He was an incredible person. He will be missed.

What date? From Uwharrie to funeral? Route determined so some might join closer?

Not sure I can join in now, we have an early appt at Baptist Eye Center Thursday and I doubt I can get back in time.

In Greensboro, was looking at googlemaps for where the viewing and funeral is, and this is what I saw. Interesting conicidence, scott had a newer 45 pickup that was not street registered too.

Stacy and I are planning on going. If anyone else wants to go let us know and we can try and keep the ONSC crowd together.

I was gonna mention that truck and his 45 as well. I parked next to it at a funeral a few months ago and left an onsc card on a couple occasions. its a nice solid NZ truck with LPG setup.

Super bummed to hear this.
Scott was a great guy. Always calm. Always smiling. He certainly made me a better, more confident, and much safer off road driver.
