Thanks to all previous info on this thread, I ordered my parts earlier this week and will soon be enjoying much better audio in my cruiser!

no problemo. Still bumping mine :)

try this instead of 86190-0C020

got frustrated trying to adapt 86190-0C020, so I used this (found it in Japan and can get more next time if anyone's interested). It made it all much simpler. Installed into our 83 HJ60 with a new Pioneer receiver.

AUX Input

I've been doing a lot of research on installing a 2012 T1819 like you did. I currently have it placed in the dash of my 96' FJ80 and all I need to do is figure out how to make the USB/AUX connection.
I've done A LOT of reading on this but you're post was by the far the best/cleanest looking approach. I currently have an OEM Toyota USB/AUX dash plug.
Here's what I can't figure out. When you talk about running a 2.7OHM resistor between pins 16 and 18 on the 28 to 20 pin adapter plug, are you "jumping" the pin contacts with the resistor or are the resistors placed "in line" on the wire?
Also, the OEM USB/AUX dash plug uses a 5 pin molex connector on the back side of it. How/what did you use to hook this all up and where does it tie into the T1819? Obviously, the T1819 doesn't have a AUX input on the back of it. Any help is appreciated.

I should clarify and state that I like the approach DYIZHERE used and I'd prefer to open up the rear of the stereo case in order to directly solder the USB connection wires on.

My real question is how to make the AUX connection with the OEM Toyota dash plug. I don't think that's very obvious.

Rock 40 - You are indeed jumping pin 16 to 18 with the resistor. I put my resistor as close as possible to the connector so that it didnt get damaged behind the radio. My 4runner already had the aux input jack so mine just plugged in via the adapter harnesses and the info on this forum. I'll see if I can dig up the pinouts.

I found this from a person pitting a T1819 into a 4Runner:

T1819 radio connectors:
10pin connector:
1 -> front right +
2 -> front left +
3 -> ACC ignition +12V
4 -> battery +12V
5 -> front right -
6 -> front left -
7 -> ground
8 -> (antenna amplifier + output) now on antenna connector, you have to splice in here
9 -> amplifier control + output
10 -> illumination + input

6pin connector:
1 -> rear right +
2 -> rear left +
3 -> rear right -
4 -> telefone mute input, connect to ground to mute radio
5 -> illumination - input, connect to ground if not connected to rheostat (instument illumination dimmer)
6 -> rear left -

12pin connector CD changer, SAT, ...:
1 -> audio signal shield (ground) for pin2+3+4+5
2 -> audio R+ in
3 -> audio R- in
4 -> audio L+ in
5 -> audio L- in
6 -> mute in
7 -> ground
8 -> not used, unknown
9 -> AVC-LAN TX+
10 -> AVC-LAN TX-
11 -> ACC ignition +12V (I think it is an output, not 100% sure)
12 -> battery +12V (I think it is an output, not 100% sure)

USB connector:
-> on T1814 and T1815 it is a JAE MX39004NQ1 connector (USB type A receptacle style)
-> you have to use a Toyota factory cable assembly or solder an USB cable directly on the connector pins
-> on T1819, I think it is a JAE MX39006NQ1 (not sure) connector (USB type B plug style)
-> factory cable will not fit, use PT546-00120-US or solder an USB cable directly on the connector pins, don't have another Toyota part number

Antenna connector:
-> new style (similar to FAKRA connectors), dual antenna input, antenna amplifier + output (splice in 10pin connector pin8 or use adapter harness PT546-00120-AD)

28pin connector, replaces 20pin + 8pin connector on T1819:
1...28 -> to be figured out

2 RCA connectors:
-> pre-amp output for subwoofer, monoaural, L+R have the same signal, no fader/balance, master volume works, subwoofer level adjustable

Vehicle harness connectors:
20pin steering wheel controls, speed signal, AUX IN connector:
1 -> not used
2 -> not used
3 -> SPD, speed signal in
4 -> not used
5 -> not used
6 -> SWG, steering wheel controls ground
7 -> SW1, steering wheeel controls switched resistors input 1
8 -> SW1, steering wheeel controls switched resistors input 2
9 -> TX1+ to multi display TX2+, wire twisted with pin 10 wire, I think this is not used
10 -> TX1- to multi display TX2-, wire twisted with pin 9 wire, I think this is not used
11 -> not used, control for factory external audio amplifier
12 -> not used, control for factory external audio amplifier
13 -> not used, shield for pin 11+12, control for factory external audio amplifier
14 -> not used any more, AGND for older SCION headunits
15 -> ARI, AUX R+ IN
16 -> ASGN, AUX RL- ground
17 -> ALI, AUX L+ IN
18 -> AGND, audio shield (ground) for pin 15+16+17
19 -> AUXI (open 3.1V), jack pluged in 2,7kOhms to AGND (AUX IN enabled) <-> jack not pluged in 15kOhms to AGND (AUX IN disabled), use a 3,5mm stereo jack with build in switch and series resistor 3.3kOhms and parallel resistor 15kOhms)
20 -> used, but don't know what it is

8pin 3.5mm Stereo Jack connector - old SCION headunits w/o USB:
1 -> ALO, AUX L+ OUT
2 -> ARO, AUX R+ OUT
3 -> ASGN, AUX RL- ground
4 -> AUXO (open 3.1V), jack pluged in 2,7kOhms to AGND (AUX IN enabled) <-> jack not pluged in 15kOhms to AGND (AUX IN disabled), use a 3,5mm stereo jack with build in switch and series resistor 3.3kOhms and parallel resistor 15kOhms)
5 -> AGND, audio shield (ground) for pin 1+2+3
6 -> not used
7 -> not used
8 -> not used

5pin 3.5mm Stereo Jack connector - new SCION headunits with USB:
1 -> AUXO (open 3.1V), jack pluged in 2,7kOhms to AUXG (AUX IN enabled) <-> jack not pluged in 15kOhms to AUXG (AUX IN disabled), use a 3,5mm stereo jack with build in switch and series resistor 3.3kOhms and parallel resistor 15kOhms)
2 -> ASGN, AUX RL- ground
3 -> ARO, AUX R+ OUT
4 -> ALO, AUX L+ OUT
5 -> AUXG, audio shield (ground) for pin 2+3+4

8pin microphone connector (not sure about the pinout):
1 -> TSW-, connect to ground (6) to tell the radio that there is a mic / enable Bluetooth
2 -> MIC+
3 -> MCVD (+5V output to power the mic amplifier)
4 -> not used
5 -> MIC-
6 -> audio shield (ground) for pin 2+5
7 -> not used
8 -> not used

I have a T1814 head unit in my 80 and I recently found this on eBay, 2007&up Toyota Radio 3.5mm 1/8 Aux Audio input Cable for Corona Matrix AvalonT20 works great so far. For $15 I thought I'd try it out.

"You are indeed jumping pin 16 to 18 with the resistor."

Thank you, that clarifies it quite a bit. The pin-out you provided will also be very helpful as I haven't been able to find the 28 pin explanation.

The AUX also makes a bit more sense also. My 96' obviously never had a jack which is why I sourced the OEM Toyota USB/AUX jack.

I'm thinking that a 3 pin MOLEX connecter mated to a female adapter "AUX" plug+the Ebay radio adapter http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-up-Toy...816?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f2e07c148 will probably get this working.

I bought the PT-546-00120-US (USB adapter plug) but quickly realized it doesnt fit standard USB and the wiring inside the radio is not standard USB pinout and WILL DAMAGE THE USB DEVICE AND/OR the radio.

Just curious, how does the wiring differ? Aren't you able to plug standard USB devices into the vehicles via console receptacle? Is it the receptable that rearranges the pin-out to standard USB? I am just about to crack open my HU to hardwire a USB cable, but just had this question pop into my head.

Thank you,
Brian

It's been a while but from memory it was the grey $40 plug that changed the USB back to the standard pinouts. I'm not sure about the factory USB dash connector since I didn't use or have one.

Is it possible to jump the microphone connection to enable BT only for connecting a device for audio output/streaming? I don't usually take calls (even hands free) when I am driving but would love a BT connection just to hook up Spotify.

Need a little help... 1997 LC

I bought the HU t1819, all the adapters needed for the usb, antenna, and BT. Here is where the fun starts, I connected both grey plugs per instructions to the t1819HU, connected the antenna, Disconnected my 2 plugs coming from the amp and no sound....!!!!

HU turns on but no sound. Everything seems to be working except I can't get any sound to the speakers, what am I missing? I checked the HU on its own by connecting 12v to it. Speaker, and connected the USB and get sound. So the HU works. The issue seems to be in the grey wires.

I thought it was going to be a straight forward install and I am running into trouble.

I know it's an old thread but any help would be great.
