My '78 fj40 has developed a leak resulting from years of trash collection and moisture... and worse, neglect. I don't care to attempt restoring the original, but with the price of an OEM tank, I may have to reconsider.

Anyone like to chime in with options and sources?

Cool Cruisers is offering up some options with the OEM coming in at $341.79.

fjparts.com = $320... not sure of the pedigree.

marksoffroad.net seems to be offline...

SOR = $377.91

thanks!

plenty of folks out there with poly tanks that will give them to you.

last i checked an oe tank was right at $250+shipping. pony up and buy something that will last you another 30 years or less than a dollar a month.

I have not found CCoT to be very knowlegable or their stuff of high quality, S$R is just plain too arrogent for me. I'd call Jeff @ Champion Toy in Houston at 800-327-2087 and ask for a TLCA discount.

Called CDan once and left a message. Never heard back... our local dealership had never heard of TLCA and discounts were out of the question.

I'll ring Jeff on Monday.

Thanks for the help,

I have dealt with Jeff for 10 years and he has never let me down. Reachable, knowledgeable, freindley, not arrogent, says what he will do and do what he says...all at the lowest price. He has delivered parts that Cdan says don't exist.

Tanks-to-pans.com does not cover the '78. Thanks for the line on these guys.

Dgangle... I will speak to Jeff tomorrow. I appreciate your reference and I'm sure he will as well.

I'll circle back and report the results.

Jell got it done. $275 for the new tank plus the ride... add a gasket for the sender unit.

Not bad for Toyota original gas tank.

Thanks much for the feedback.

Glad a dealer hooked you up.

As a reference you can also call Ralph Hayes Toyota (mud sponsor). Link is in the vendor section. They offer a 25% discount to Mud & TLCA members.
